Monica Lewinsky has offered some hilarious advice to an HBO Max Intern who mistakenly sent out a test email.

The 47-year-old ex-White House intern took to her official Twitter account this week after a number of subscribers of the network's streaming service received a mysterious email over the weekend.

This email mystified subscribers, as it seemingly contained no information or attachments, and yet was confirmed to have come from the verified account of HBO.

In a tweet made on June 18, a spokesperson for the service cleared up the issue, stating that the email had been sent out by an unfortunate intern by mistake.

The tweet reads: "We mistakenly sent out an empty test email to a portion of our HBO Max mailing list this evening. We apologize for the inconvenience, and as the jokes pile in, yes, it was the intern. No, really. And we’re helping them through it."

Sending her commiserations to the as-yet-unidentified intern, Lewinsky, who was infamously embroiled in a sex scandal with Bill Clinton while serving as an intern under the former President, tweeted:

"Dear intern: it gets better. ps. don’t wear a beret for awhile, k? [sic]"

A number of other Twitter users also then joined in the fun and comforted the intern by admitting to other errors that they had made in the past.

One person wrote: "As an actual hired employee I changed the last name of everyone at the company in the HR system to 'Holland.' A change which required them to restore the database from a backup. This was during my first week. "

Another wrote: "Dear intern, It's ok. I dropped a prod database when I was a senior engineer.

"These things happen more often than you might think. Building good systems is about having resilience against human mistakes. Because we, humans, always make mistakes."

This commenter then wrote: "Dear Intern, I was using my desktop calendar to make a monthly note of when I started my menstrual period.

"But after several months I realized I was making that note on a calendar I shared with all of my colleagues, company-wide. I was 37 years old. [sic]"

Another person wrote: "Dear Intern, I once didn’t recognize then-VP George HW Bush and almost didn’t let him into a meeting… in the Cabinet Room. Of The White House. Where he worked.

"He was actually as gracious as HBO Max Help appears to be being… you’ll be fine. [sic]"

Finally, a journalist stated: "Dear Intern: Once, when I was a junior copywriter, I applied to my dream job at @TheAtlantic and wrote 'copyrighter' on my résumé.

"Like, I misspelled the job I wanted, which was a job for good spellers. You’re doing great, okay? [sic]"
