Oprah Winfrey has revealed that Meghan Markle sent her a text message as her bombshell interview with Prince Harry aired on CBS.

Speaking in CBS  the morning after the interview aired, the talk show host revealed: "I got a text from Meghan yesterday saying, 'How's it going?' Because she was putting Archie to bed waiting on the West Coast feed and had no idea what was happening on the East Coast."

The talk show host replied to Meghan saying: "I don't either, from what I can tell it's going well, I know it's airing."

Oprah then added that she hasn't "really spoken to them since the interview because we're in different time zones." However, she added that she'd likely be having a conversation with the couple about the interview later.

In the video below, Meghan opens up about her family to Oprah:

During the interview, the couple made a number of shocking revelations, including the allegation that an unidentified member of the Royal Family had expressed concern over how dark Archie's skin might be prior to his birth.

There were "concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he is born," Meghan told Oprah. "There are several conversations ... Potentially and what that would mean or look like."

Meghan went on to reveal that she was suicidal while working as a senior royal, but the Palace prevented her from seeking treatment for her mental health out of fears that it "wouldn't be good for the institution."

"I just didn't want to be alive anymore," she told Oprah. "And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought."

As per the BBC, Buckingham Palace has now issued a statement about the interview which reads: "The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

"The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

"Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much-loved family members."
