Pamela Anderson wore makeup to the Met Gala on Monday night, marking the first time she's done so since 2023.

The former Baywatch star, who gained attention at Paris Fashion Week last year for appearing makeup-free, continued to stun at Monday's Met Gala with a subtly enhanced natural look, courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath.

Anderson, who made the choice to forgo makeup last October, emphasized that her decision wasn't driven by politics.

In an exclusive interview with Elle, she disclosed the touching and personal story behind her transformation.

She revealed that her shift away from her signature glam aesthetic was influenced by the passing of her makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2019.

"She was the best," Anderson fondly recalled of Vogel. "And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup."

Anderson shared with the outlet that shedding her '90s persona felt "freeing, and fun, and a little rebellious," reflecting her desire to forge her own path and preserve her individuality.

Anderson also told Allure: "I would come back from the shows wearing all these clothes and a big funny hat and everything and there were all these paparazzi, and then I went in one door and changed into my jeans and T-shirt and no makeup and walked out the door right through the same crowd that had been chasing me and no one noticed."

Pat McGrath, Anderson's makeup artist for the Gala, told British Vogue: "Pam wanted to wear make-up again for the Met Gala, so we created a look that acknowledged her natural beauty, but then took it to the next level.

"We wanted to explore the next incarnation of natural – an elevation of natural – and to show how you can wear a full face of make-up but in a very fresh and beautiful way."

Speaking to the outlet about her decision to wear makeup for the first time since 2023, Anderson said: "I feel like there’s always been this very elegant woman inside of me. And I feel like [the Met Gala] is actually the time I get to be that woman."

Susan Yara, founder of Naturium Skincare and the YouTube channel Mixed Makeup, emphasized the importance of women embracing aging with confidence.

"Men seem to thrive more when they age... It should be the same for women," she told USA Today.
