So, was anyone else shocked to their core when Ariana Grande got engaged? I know I was. The singer has only been dating comedian Pete Davidson for a matter of weeks, but has seemingly got whisked away in her whirlwind romance and is heading down the aisle.
However, no matter how crazy things get, there's always another surprise on the way - and it seems that the latest shocker will have fans kicking themselves.
You see, many people believe that the sudden engagement was revealed on June 11, with People magazine talking to a source close to the couple, who said: "It’s a recent engagement. They’re just two people who found love quickly and make each other happy all the time. They both started talking about it this past weekend. It’s nothing they’ve been hiding."
However, you'll be surprised to hear that the One Last Time songstress actually appeared to debut her engagement ring nearly a week before the news became public.
On June 2, Ariana took to the stage at Wango Tango, performing the first single off her new album, No Tears Left to Cry and part of a new track called The Light Is Coming. Sporting a short purple skirt, long black boots and a revealing black glittery top, the singer looked positively stunning.
However, there was one thing about her appearance that no one clocked: she was wearing a ring on her engagement finger. The sparkler, which may or may not be the diamond rock which sealed the deal, went unnoticed by everyone - even by fans who posed for selfies with the singer backstage at the event.
Ariana was also spotted wearing the same ring on her engagement finger a few days after when she was interviewed by REAL 92.3's Big Boy. Viewers can catch a glimpse of the rock when she reacts to a joke by falling to the floor, and stands back up to run her hand through her hair.
So, were we all fooled? It certainly seems like it! Well played Ariana, well played indeed.
It's thought that the pair met when Ariana hosted SNL and quickly got close after she ended her relationship with rapper Mac Miller. Soon after, Pete - who is perhaps best known for his role on sketch show Saturday Night Live - recently got two tattoos of Ariana, her initials and the bunny ears logo associated with her.
The couple made their relationship Instagram official on May 30 and it is thought that the Bang Bang star officially confirmed the engagement on social media this week when she replied to fan messages.
"I hope he knows he is maRRYING US AS WELL", fan and Twitter user @xsweetdrops wrote to Ariana. "HAHAHAHAHAHH HES BEEN BRIEFED", she replied.
In addition, she responded to a tweet calling her Mrs Davidson, writing "crying".
So, it seems all clues seem to point to Ariana and Pete preparing to tie the knot. All in all, we think a congratulations is in order. Best wishes to the lovely couple, we hope you have many years of happiness to come!
