A Peta spokesperson has gone viral after calling Piers Morgan a "pig" – and getting away it.

The incident occurred during a recent episode of the daytime talk show Good Morning Britain, when hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were debating whether the use of animal names as insults is actually offensive.

Take a look at the exchange in the video below:

Edinburgh-based activist Jennifer White, of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, advocated that the use of animal names in a derogatory fashion is a method of socially-reinforcing the idea that human beings are superior to other animals.

Explaining her argument on Good Morning Britain, White stated:

"Pigs are hyper-intelligent animals, so if I came on air and called Piers a pig he’d probably think that I was saying he was repulsive or disgusting when really these animals are so intelligent.

"If we flipped it on its head and said that someone with a high IQ is as smart as a pig, that would completely change our perception of these animals."

Morgan's co-host then made light of the comment on-air, stating: "That’s actually really clever, Jennifer. She’s getting away with calling you [Piers] a pig because it’s positive."

On social media, a number of people have taken to Twitter to react to the subtle shade Jennifer threw at the British TV personality.

For instance, one person wrote: "Jennifer from PETA sweetly calling #PiersMorgan a pig and getting away with it. NOW that’s the perfect start of the day! Changing the channel to #BBCBreakfast [sic]."

Meanwhile, someone else added: "So very sorry for mislabeling you as a pig over the years, Piers."

Another person appeared to agree with Peta, writing: "I’m not woke in the slightest but I do agree with this. People abuse animals because they don’t respect or recognize them as being feeling, sentient beings. I think language is important."

Despite his passion for always getting the last word in, Morgan was left unable to retaliate to the comment, meaning White had won.

Perhaps Reid may have learnt a thing or two from the Good Morning Britain guest. Just saying.
