Photos of the bruises Angelina Jolie claims to have sustained when her former husband Brad Pitt allegedly assaulted her on a private jet in 2016 have surfaced

The bruised hand and elbow of the 47-year-old Maleficent star are featured in pictures. The images were submitted to the FBI as part of an investigation into a fight the celebrity exes had while on a private jet from France to Los Angeles on September 14, 2016.

Jolie claims her 58-year-old ex-husband took her to the restroom at the back of the jet, grabbed her shoulders, and started to shake her as he aggressively accused her of "f****** up this family," the FBI report revealed. Pitt vehemently denies these allegations.

Jolie also alleges that one of their children called Pitt a "p***k", from the other side of the restroom door and that, as a result, Pitt looked "like he was going to attack" the youngster. With the aim of protecting her kids, Jolie is said to have attempted to choke Pitt from behind.

Check out an image of Jolie's bruised hand:

Jolie "jumped up and grabbed Pitt round his neck with her arms, 'like in a choke hold,' [...] Pitt purportedly threw himself back, pushing Jolie into the seats behind them, causing injury to her back and elbow," FBI records obtained by Rolling Stone state.

According to Jolie, she sustained injuries to her back and elbow in addition to a "rug-burn type wound."

Black-and-white pictures, which were submitted as part of the FBI investigation, show bruising to her hand and elbow.

Jolie was identified earlier this month as the anonymous "Jane Doe" who filed a lawsuit against the FBI and sought the release of documents after an investigation into Pitt's conduct was closed.

The aim of the legal filing is to have the FBI release information in connection with the investigation into the alleged assault.

The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services had ultimately concluded in a report that Pitt - who previously admitted that his reliance on alcohol had "become a problem" - did not harm any of his children. Pitt had also been cleared by the FBI of any wrongdoing.

On September 19, 2016, just days after the private jet incident, Jolie filed for divorce from the Bullet Train star. The pair tied the knot in August 2014 after nine years together. They were declared legally single in 2019.

They are parents to six children: Maddox 21, twins Knox and Vivienne, 14, daughters Shiloh, 16, Zahara, 17, and son Pax, 18.
