Priyanka Chopra Jonas has issued a response to Rosie O'Donnell following the presenter's public apology.

Over the weekend, 59-year-old O'Donnell posted a public apology to both Priyanka, 39, and her husband Nick Jonas, 29, following an awkward encounter at a California restaurant.

Speaking in a TikTok video, O'Donnell revealed that stars had been seated next to each other at the acclaimed Nobu Malibu. In an effort to make conversation with the young couple, O'Donnell said that she had told Nick that he was "great in Kingdom" and then told Priyanka that she knew her father.

Check out O'Donnell's initial apology below:

The former host of The View explained that she had always assumed that author Deepak Chopra was Priyanka's father.

Recalling the conversation, O'Donnell said: "'Hi, [Priyanka]. I know your dad.' She goes, 'You do? Who's my dad?' And I'm like, 'Deepak'. She's like, 'No, and Chopra is a common name.'"

O'Donnell explained that the foot-in-mouth moment left her and her son feeling "embarrassed".

To make matters worse for O'Donnell, although Deepak Chopra is still alive, Priyanka's actual father, Dr. Ashok Chopra, died in June 2013.

She then issued an apology to the couple, saying: "Nick Jonas, I apologize," she said, "And to the Chopra wife, I apologize too."

However, many viewers took umbrage to the fact that O'Donnell didn't use Priyanka's first name once in the video, with one fan writing: "Priyanka Chopra is one of the most famous Indian actors in the world. Love you, but let’s not call her 'Nick’s wife.'"

The backlash led to O'Donnell releasing a second video, in which she issued another apology.

"Priyanka is her name... Priyanka, I hope I'm pronouncing that right. I just want to apologize to her and to everyone who thought it was really inappropriate of me. Sorry, sometimes I f*** up," she said.

Now, in an apparent response to O'Donnell, Priyanka has taken to her Instagram Stories to share her "thoughts" on the situation.

Writing to her 74.5 million followers, the Matrix star wrote: "I have never taken myself so seriously to think everyone would know who I am, or my work for that matter. But if you wanted to make a public apology for a very awkward private encounter, I think probably best to take the time to google my name before doing it or even try to reach out directly."

The actor continued: "We ALL deserve to be respected for our unique individuality and not be referred to as 'someone' or 'wife', especially in a sincere apology. If we can learn to respect our differences in an authentic way, the world we raise our children in, will be amazing."
