Producer Benny Blanco said he thought he was going to die after kissing Beyoncé on the lips in front of Jay-Z.
In an interview on Apple Music's The Zane Lowe Show on Wednesday (March 24), he explained the awkward moment happened when he and a number of other producers were invited to the couple's Hamptons home around a decade ago for a beat battle.
"I'm playing beats, and Jay-Z is there and we're just drinking, chilling," Blanco revealed. "He comes up to me and he's free-styling in my ear. And I'm like, 'Jay-Z is sitting here, getting drunk with me while Beyoncé is singing little riffs, and he's free-styling in my ear.
"And we're about to all go in the pool after. It's these moments, I'm like, 'How is this my life?'"
Listen to an extract from Blanco's interview below:Blanco said that as the party was wrapping up, he intended to give Beyoncé a goodbye kiss on the cheek.
However, the gesture unfortunately did not go the way he'd planned it.
"I went to do like, kiss on the cheek, and I guess we just missed a little bit," he added. "And just like, I definitely hit the corner of some sort of lip. I'm like, 'Oh my God. This is the worst thing in my life.
"I'm sitting there, and as I'm doing it, out of the corner of my eye, Jay-Z is right there looking at me. And I'm just like, 'My lip is here. Hers is there, and there's definitely some corner things are happening.'
"And I look at Jay and I'm like, 'Oh, Okay. I'm dead. My life is over. It was great. Nice knowing you guys.'"

He joked he was convinced that he was going to "be in a coffin" the next day and added: "My life flashed before my eyes."
But to his absolute amazement, absolutely no one cottoned on to his mistake.
"No one noticed, she didn't," he said, explaining that he breathed a huge sigh of relief when he realized he'd gotten away with it.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z married in 2008, and the pair have since had three children, Blue Ivy, nine, and twins Rumi and Sir, three.
