Horrifying reason 'Sideneck' got his nickname as he shares unrecognizable before-and-after photos
The heartbreaking story behind a TikToker's nickname has been revealed after he shared unrecognizable photos of himself before and after a life-changing accident.
The content creator, known as Sideneck, has built a following through his viral videos, music, and catchphrase: "B***H I'M SIDENECK."
He has more than 2.6 million followers on TikTok, where he regularly jokes about his tilted neck and other lasting injuries.
Behind the rapper's online persona is a heartbreaking story involving a 1,200-pound moose and a crash that left him with severe injuries.
Despite everything he went through, Sideneck has embraced his appearance and often uses the bio: "I broke my neck so what? My arm don't work either."
Sideneck revealed how the accident happened
Sideneck opened up about the crash and the extent of his injuries in a video shared on his platform.
"I, like, drowned in my own blood," he began the video. "It was April Fools' Day 2010, 1:30 in the morning. I was driving to town, and I ended up hitting a 1,200-pound moose in a little Honda Tiburon."
He explained that the animal was traveling in the same direction as his car when he struck it.
"It was walking the same way I was driving, and I ended up scooping it up from [the top] and it came through my windshield. It was laying on me. Its head went right to the back spoiler, snapped its back, legs extended, kicked me in the side of the head."
The crash then sent his vehicle off the road.
"Ended up bouncing off the guard rails and ended up about 300 meters into a swamp. I ended up, wow, breaking my neck in three spots, my back in two spots, right side of my face in five spots, shattered my brachial plexus, paralyzed my right arm, broke two ribs," he explained.
Those injuries became even more serious when his broken ribs damaged his lungs.
"Those ribs punctured both my lungs and deflated my lungs, and then my lungs filled up with blood. I was pronounced dead on scene," he said.
According to Sideneck, his friend then came to his aid. "My buddy heard all that stuff going on, freaked out, came over, shook me, hit me in the chest, and I spit blood back, and here I am," he shared.
After hearing his story, viewers praised Sideneck for keeping his sense of humor despite everything he had endured.
"Damn that’s rough dude. Glad you’re able to make light of the side neck. Cracks me up every video," one user wrote. Sideneck replied: "Gotta make the best out of every situation."
Another commented: "That’s rough man! You are truly an inspiration. Much respect , wishing you all the best & all the success you deserve."
A third wrote: "The fact that you’re still alive tells that you have a mission still. Keep strong."
A fourth added: "Thanks for sharing your story with us man, it's good to see you in strong spirit considering what you went through wasn't easy, stay strong and positive bro."
Another person said it "shows great strength making the best of a f**ked up situation".
Sideneck shared photos from before the crash
Sideneck has also given his followers a glimpse of how different he looked before his life-changing injuries.
In a before-and-after video shared in 2021, old photos show him sporting a mohawk and posing alongside a friend.
The later images show Sideneck bald and tattooed, walking his dog and spending time with friends.
Followers once again praised him for embracing his life after the accident.
