Speaking to The Express, Wilson stated she "literally feels as if she has to physically transform" so that people can see her as something other than a comedic actor.
"For some reason, even though we’re in a very imaginative industry, it’s very difficult for people to imagine me as a serious actress and I feel that I physically have to show you that I am different," she said. "I am somewhat transforming myself in order to help transform my career. I still love comedy and I will obviously still work in the comedy space, but I did train originally as a dramatic actress… which people forget."

This comes after Wilson alleged that she was paid "a lot of money" by Hollywood executives to stay at a larger size.
Speaking to The Sun, while promoting Amazon Prime’s LOL: Last One Laughing, Wilson revealed that her American acting agency was keen to keep her on, as there were very few actors working at the time that looked like her.
''It’s not like I want to lose weight and get to around a certain number. It’s more than that, it’s about dealing mentally with with why I was overeating and I had a job where I was paid a lot of money to be bigger, at times which kind of can mess with your head a bit.
"So now I’m just trying to work on the mental side and the physical job and doing a lot of personal training and, and on the nutrition side like it’s, it’s cool I should probably write a book at some point about it because people seem to be interested. There’s no real simple answer to it. I’ve been trying a lot of different things and to be healthy.''

This comes after Wilson decided to clear out her snack cupboard to make sure she sticks to her healthier diet. In her Instagram Story, posted on August 30, Rebel can be seen throwing her crisps and chocolate straight into the bin.
She even took some washing up liquid and squirted the snacks with it, to make sure she wouldn't be tempted.
"Here's the tip of the week, you get your food that you don't need, that's not good for you," she told her fans. "You put it in the bin and then you get dish washing soap and pour it on the food. So then, you can't eat it. It's gone."
Thanking her followers on Instagram for their support on August 29, she said: "Thanks for all the love so far on my “Year of Health” journey - when I was reaching for the candies last night after dinner I thought to myself “hmmmm...better not” and had a bottle of water instead x 8kg’s to go until I hit my goal - hopefully I can do it by the end of the year x [sic]."
Weight loss is something that many people aspire to, but as anyone who has ever tried to lose weight will attest, it's no mean feat and requires a lot of hard work and determination.
However, it's something that Rebel Wilson has achieved with stunning results in 2020, and now she's taken to Instagram once again to show off her incredible 40lb weight loss in a blue dress.
This snap was taken on the 40-year-old's way to a charity event for The School of St Jude, a facility that provides free education for Tanzanian children.

Last year, Wilson revealed that she lost more than 3.6 kilos (8lbs) in just four days while filming on the set of the roundly panned movie, Cats.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the 39-year-old actress said that she was "pretty uncomfortable" shooting her scenes due to the high temperatures on set. She said:
"I lost eight pounds (3.6kg) shooting my number in four days," Wilson, who plays Jennyanydots, in the Tom Hooper directed film, continued before disclosing that temperatures reached nearly 100 Fahrenheit (37.7 Celsius) on set. "One, because there’s a lot of physicality … but also, they heated up the set very high, to almost 100 Fahrenheit (37.7 Celsius), so that we could never cool down.
"These people are like, the best dancers in the whole world, so they can’t cool their muscles down or they could get an injury and they’d be out of the film … So they’d heat up the set like a sauna so we would never cool down, but (it) made it pretty uncomfortable."
Wilson has spoken before about how the entertainment industry had affected her approach towards her weight and fitness.
The comedian and actress revealed that she was "paid a lot of money to be bigger" as part of her job. While promoting Amazon Prime’s LOL: Last One Laughing she told the Sun;
