Robert Irwin has revealed that he has split up with his girlfriend Rorie Buckey in a heartfelt social media post.
Robert, 20, the son of the late conservationist Steve Irwin has picked up where his father left off and is quickly becoming a much-loved wildlife expert all across social media.
One aspect of his life that caught people's eye was his relationship with Rorie Buckey, as she is the niece of the beloved actor Heath Ledger.
Their relationship took center stage earlier this year when they made their red carpet debut at the premiere of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One in Sydney, Australia.
Robert, known for his wildlife photography skills, donned a classic black suit, while Rorie stunned in an asymmetrical black gown, capturing the attention of onlookers with their affectionate gestures.
The couple's relationship first caught attention during a cozy dinner date at a high-end restaurant in Brisbane, Australia, in 2022.
Sadly, it appears as if their time together has come to an end, as both took to their Instagram story to share a heartfelt announcement about their relationship.
"We wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways but profoundly appreciate all of the time spent together and wish one another all the very best into the future," the joint statement read.
It continued: "We wish to express the gratitude and respect we have for one another as we continue our journeys on different paths. We won't be commenting further on this, and really appreciate your respect and privacy at this time."
In the aftermath of the breakup, both Robert and Rorie have taken steps to erase any remnants of their relationship from their respective social media accounts.
Robert's Instagram grid now features solely posts of himself and his family, while Rorie has switched her profile to private and disabled comments on her posts.
Despite these changes, the former couple still appears to be following each other on the platform, maintaining a level of mutual respect despite the split.
The couple's last public sighting together was in January, leaving Melbourne after attending the Australian Open. Witnesses noted the pair's affectionate demeanor as they waited in the terminal, per the Daily Mail.
Reports suggest that Rorie underwent an Irwin-approved "wildlife warrior boot camp" before officially dating Robert, demonstrating her commitment to Australian wildlife.
Impressively, the couple embarked on a crocodile research trip together, contributing valuable data to the Wildlife Warriors' Worldwide Foundation.
We wish both of them all the best moving forward.
