Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock are just two of the many celebrities who have paid tribute to the late star Betty White.

On Friday, December 31, White's agent and close friend Jeff Witjas confirmed to People that the legendary Golden Girls star had passed away. "Betty died peacefully in her sleep at her home early this morning," Witjas said.

Following the heartbreaking news, many stars took to social media to honor the Golden Girls legend, including Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock, who co-starred alongside White in the popular 2009 romcom, The Proposal.

Reynolds shared a snap of White giving two thumbs up while standing in front of a Deadpool poster (a screenshot of White's hilarious foul-mouthed review of the superhero flick).

Alongside the pic, Reynolds wrote: "The world looks a little different now. She was great at defying expectation. She managed to grow very old and somehow, not old enough. We’ll miss you, Betty. Now you know the secret."

The "secret" Reynolds is referring to comes from comments White made in the past surrounding death. In 2011, White told CBS Sunday Morning that she was not afraid of dying because her mom taught her that nobody knows what happens when people die.  Therefore, when somebody passes, they learn the "secret".

In this week's edition of People Magazine, both Reynolds and Bullock spoke about their admiration for White. The Deadpool star even joked that White was "a typical Capricorn. Sleeps all day. Out all night boozing and snacking on men."

Speaking to People following White's death, Bullock said: "I don't drink vodka... but I will tonight - on ice, with a slice of lemon with a hot dog on the other side and just be okay being sad."

The Speed star added: "I'll have to buy some rose-colored glasses because Betty was that for all of us."

Other big names that paid tribute to White included the POTUS Joe Biden, who tweeted: "Betty White brought a smile to the lips of generations of Americans. She’s a cultural icon who will be sorely missed. Jill and I are thinking of her family and all those who loved her this New Year’s Eve."

Former first lady Michelle Obama also paid her respects, tweeting: "Betty White broke barriers, defied expectations, served her country, and pushed us all to laugh. Barack and I join so many around the world who will miss the joy she brought to the world. I know our Bo is looking forward to seeing her up in heaven."

Another national treasure, Dolly Parton, also shared her thoughts about Betty White, tweeting: "While watching the news last night I learned of Betty White’s passing. Betty will live forever not only in this world but the world here after. I will always love her as we all will!"

And Star Trek legend George Takei also paid his respects, writing: "Our national treasure, Betty White, has passed just before her 100th birthday. Our Sue Ann Nivens, our beloved Rose Nylund, has joined the heavens to delight the stars with her inimitable style, humor, and charm. A great loss to us all. We shall miss her dearly."

Our thoughts are with White's family, friends, and fans at this time.
