Three cast members of the original Jurassic Park movie - Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum - are set to appear in the third instalment of the Jurassic World franchise.

The exciting news was revealed at a fan screening of Battle at Big Rock, an eight-minute short film directed by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow.

The actors impressed audiences around the world with their iconic performances in 1993's Jurassic Park, directed by the one and only Steven Spielberg. In any case, this will mark the first time since the original that Neil, Dern and Goldblum, who have all appeared in sequels individually, will appear alongside each other.

They will be joining the newer stars of the franchise, Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt, in what director Colin Trevorrow promises will be "sizable roles" as opposed to mere cameos.

That's great news for fans of the original, especially considering Goldblum only had a small role in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Dern only had a brief cameo in Jurassic Park III, in which Neill had a lead role, but has largely been absent from the franchise since.

Few plot details have been released for Jurassic World 3, but we do know that Trevorrow will direct and co-write the screenplay with Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising).

The new movie will follow on from 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which was directed by J.A. Bayona, and depicts the alarming consequences of the dinosaurs escaping into the real world. Spielberg and Trevorrow will be returning as executive producers.
