Sharon Stone shares emotional tribute to baby nephew as 11-month-old dies after total organ failure
Sharon Stone has shared heartbreaking news of her 11-month-old nephew's death, days after the infant suffered total organ failure.
The actress, 63, had previously shared a post asking her fans to pray for her young nephew named River.
Just days later, on Monday, August 30, the Basic Instinct star took to social media again, this time to pay tribute to the youngster as she announced that he had sadly passed away.
"River William Stone Sept. 8, 2020 - Aug. 30, 2021," Stone captioned the post, which included footage of the little one set to Eric Clapton's 'Tears In Heaven'. The poignant song was originally written about the death of Clapton's four-year-old son, Conor.
Last week, Stone shared a photo of young River being treated in hospital alongside the caption: "My nephew and godson River Stone was found in his crib w total organ failure today. Please pray for him. We need a miracle."
Since she announced the tragic news, a number of people - fans and celebrities alike - have taken to the comments to share their condolences.
Will & Grace actor Sean Hayes wrote: "Ugh. I’m sitting here in tears. I’m so sorry, Sharon. What a beautiful boy. Sending all my love to you and your family."
Hayes' Will & Grace co-star Leslie Jordan wrote: "This breaks my heart. I’m in pieces right now."
A third star from the show, Debra Messing, wrote: "Noooooooooooooo. I am in disbelief. Oh Sharon, there are no words, other than I’m so sorry for your whole family’s loss. I am praying for all of you at this unimaginable time."
Four Weddings And A Funeral star Andie MacDowell simply wrote alongside three crying emojis: "I'm so sorry lord."
And a number of other celebrities shared their devastation at the news including Selma Blair, Jaime Alexander, Hilary Swank, Kate Walsh, Billy Porter, Kristin Chenoweth, and Octavia Spencer.
Our thoughts are with River's family at this difficult time.
