Sophie Turner has come under fire for playing young Princess Charlotte in an animated HBO Max parody of the British Royal Family.
In the show - called The Prince - the 25-year-old former Game of Thrones star provides the voice of Princess Charlotte, the six-year-old daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The show was created by Family Guy writer Gary Janetti and offers a humorous reimagining of the life of Prince George and his family. Janetti himself provides the voice of Princess Charlotte's eight-year-old brother, Prince George, and Orlando Bloom voices their uncle, Prince Harry.
However, Turner has now faced criticism from viewers for voicing the child, with others branding her "hypocritical" after calling for privacy for her own child.
One critic tweeted: "The mental gymnastics that celebs do to convince themselves they’re right. Sophie Turner is within her rights to advocate for privacy for her daughter but how can she think it’s ok to be part of this show which mocks Prince George (8), Princess Charlotte (6) & Prince Louis (3)?"
Another Twitter user wrote: "a special shout out to Sophie Turner who made a very emphatic defence of her child’s privacy and now decides to voice Charlotte in this show. I suppose when it’s another [kid's] privacy it doesn’t matter? Disgusting. This show is targeting REAL children who don’t deserve this."
"Orlando and Sophie: Respect our children, respect our life and privacy [...] Also Orlando and Sophie: let's gonna be part or a tacky program and mocking others ppl children. HYPOCRITES," typed another.
Back in May, Turner took to her Instagram Stories to slam the paparazzi for attempting to photograph her daughter. In a statement made to her followers, she wrote: "She is my daughter. She did not ask for this life, to be photographed."
"It’s disgusting and you do not have my permission," she added.
Entertainment journalist Colette Fahy added: "Whatever your thoughts on the Royal Family, I think everyone can agree that children should be off-limits. This is so gross and I cannot understand how it ever got made."
Another viewer accused the show of "bullying" children, tweeting: "Shame on @hbomax for bullying children. I'm shocked Orlando Bloom would participate in a show that bullys children [sic]; I always looked up to him before. And Sophie Turner! How could you be so horrible? You protect your child but bully other children? Disgraceful hypocrites!"
Per The Telegraph, Janetti said of the show: "I do what I think is funny, and it’s never meant to be anything other than to give, like, a laugh and be silly and funny.
"It is never meant to be anything that’s mean. It’s all about George’s insane take on the world and his wanting to be a star."
