Stranger Things creators Ross and Matt Duffer respond to David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown 'harassment' claims
Recent rumors suggesting that Millie Bobby Brown, star of Stranger Things, filed complaints of harassment and bullying against her co-star David Harbour have sparked concerns among fans.
The allegations, which have been circulating, claim a strained relationship between the two actors, who portray Eleven and her father figure, Jim Hopper, on the popular Netflix series. However, Stranger Things co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer, along with executive producer Shawn Levy, have publicly responded to these claims.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter at the world premiere of the show’s upcoming fifth and final season, the Duffer brothers and Levy addressed the speculation. Their comments were clear in stating their commitment to maintaining a respectful and safe work environment on set.
Commitment to a safe and respectful workplace
Ross Duffer, speaking at the premiere, emphasized that creating a safe space on set is a top priority. “Nothing matters more,” he said, “than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”
Although he refrained from addressing specific details of any personal on-set matters, he expressed the deep bond that has formed between the cast and crew over the ten years of working together.
“At this point, they’re family and we deeply care about them,” Ross continued. “So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”
Shawn Levy also weighed in, dismissing much of the media coverage as “wildly inaccurate.” The producer reinforced the importance of maintaining a respectful environment for everyone involved, stating, “At the end of the day, that’s the job. You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and so we did everything to build that environment.”
He also acknowledged the negative attention the rumors have garnered, stating, “I’ve read a bunch of stories and they range from wildly inaccurate to… there’s so much noise around it.” Levy concluded, “But the truth is that we view this crew and this cast as family, and so we treat each other with respect, and that’s always been bedrock.”
No public comment from Millie Bobby Brown or David Harbour
While the Duffer brothers and Levy have strongly suggested that the rumors surrounding the relationship between Brown and Harbour are inaccurate, neither actor has directly commented on the allegations.
However, both Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour were photographed together at the premiere, appearing to be in good spirits, which some fans have interpreted as a sign that any tensions were unfounded.
Despite the rumors, the clear message from the Stranger Things team is that their focus remains on ensuring a positive and supportive environment for everyone involved in the production.
