The Thelma and Louise actress's daughter, Eva Amurri, 39, married her husband Ian Hock in a stunning ceremony in New York's Hudson Valley.

Susan, 77, and her former partner Tim Robbins, 65, were among just 40 guests invited to the intimate affair, which was inspired by a "French garden party".

And while it looked like a picture-perfect wedding, when the photos were shared online, some people had a lot to say about the bride's wedding dress...

While Eva looked stunning in a white, lace-adorned Kim Kassas shift dress, with a large overskirt and corset top, the cleavage-baring bustier had some people clutching their pearls in shock.

They took to the comments to share their thoughts, writing: "Yeah strapless dresses aren't for everyone," and: "Awful dress!!!! So unflattering! Put them away!"

Others added: "What in the name of Holy Matrimonial Tatas is going on," and: "Beautiful bride, not crazy about the lingerie, I mean bridal gown."

Thankfully, Eva didn't seem to take the negativity to heart, as she made light of the uproar on her Instagram story.

Sharing other stunning snaps of the day, she told her followers: "So much to share from this day, and so many thought. But it was really the most special day filled with so much love and the most incredible energy."

She then shared a photo of her and Ian posing together, from a side-on angle showcasing the top of her dress and cleavage, as she added: "And to anyone scandalized by my breasts not being ‘put away’ … Feel free to screenshot this for later," before adding a close up crop of her breasts in the gown.

Others also defended the actress and mom-of-three for her choice of dress, writing: "I can’t believe how unkind so many of you are in this post! Why is it that you can’t just embrace their happiness and wonderful story rather than try to hurt people? I guess it’s an indication of your sorry lives!"

Another commented: "Women hating on women. Are we stiiiill not done with that? #yawn," while someone else wrote: "Obsessed with this family, congrats @thehappilyeva you’re so stunning!"

Eva also told People that the dress made her feel "sexy but elegant", explaining: "I love how it has a vintage feel and is ultra feminine without being overly pouffy.

"I wanted to feel sexy but elegant, and I think the dress strikes the perfect balance."

She had told Us Weekly earlier in June that she'd gone for a "sexier" gown which reflected her confidence, adding: "It’s just what I had in my mind. It perfectly reflects who I am today as a woman."
