Sydney Sweeney hailed as 'goddess' after wearing see-through 'braless' dress on red carpet

Sydney Sweeney has been called a 'goddess' after stepping onto the red carpet in a see-through, braless dress.

The White Lotus star, 28, turned heads at the 2025 Variety Power of Women event, which took place at the Beverly Hills Hotel on October 29.

For the event, the actress sported a figure-hugging silver gown that featured a floor-length hem and elbow-length sleeves.

She kept her accessories minimal, wearing delicate pearl drop earrings, and styled her cropped hair in a sleek, glossy finish.

Sweeney's braless look left many social media users stunned.

One user gushed: "As if she needed anything else to be more goddess-like - but here it is!" Another exclaimed that they are "obsessed" with the actress' look.

A third user shared front and back pictures of Sweeney at the event, to which someone praised under: "one awesome good looking woman."

A Powerful Speech and Emotional Tribute

The red carpet was only the beginning for Sweeney, who soon took the stage to deliver an emotional speech celebrating the "power of women".

She spoke passionately about perseverance, stating: "The power to rise and to fight and to keep believing in yourself, even when no one else does."

The Euphoria actress also took the opportunity to dedicate her recognition to someone deeply important to her: Christy Martin, a trailblazing female boxer who faced immense personal hardship.

“And as much as I am incredibly honored to be recognized as one of these women, there’s someone way more important and special than me I would like to dedicate this to," she said.

“She is a woman who not only redefines higher sport but who struggles with domestic violence and sexual identity, gave a voice to so many who might not have had one. She means a lot to me, and I am so happy she’s here tonight, she’s a hero, you are an ultimate underdog, Christy Martin," she added, per The Sun.

Sweeney described how portraying Martin in an upcoming film, set for release on November 7, was one of the most inspiring experiences of her life, and grew emotional as she spoke about the boxer's story of survival after being shot and stabbed by her abusive husband.

To prepare for the role, Sweeney learned to box and emphasized that the fight scenes in the film are as authentic as possible, stating: “Every single fight you see, we’re actually punching each other. We’re going full force."

"I always believed that you wouldn’t be able to make it feel real if it’s a stunt double or if it’s faking the hits," she added.

The Hollywood star’s transformation for the role was striking. Gone were the glamorous dresses and blonde locks, replaced by cropped dark hair and sports gear.

Shutting Down Cosmetic Surgery Rumors

Amid her rising profile, Sweeney has faced persistent rumors regarding cosmetic surgery, something she has consistently denied.

In a recent interview with Variety, she set the record straight, saying: “I’ve never gotten anything done. I’m absolutely terrified of needles. No tattoos. Nothing.”

The Handmaids Tale star, who is committed to aging naturally, added: “I’m going to age gracefully,” and remarked on how amusing it is to see “comparison pictures” of herself online.

Sweeney’s public image has been a topic of controversy before, including her involvement in an American Eagle ad campaign that sparked backlash.

The ad, which featured Sweeney’s blonde hair and blue eyes, quickly drew criticism for allegedly promoting eugenic undertones.

While she didn’t directly address the controversy, she alluded to it in her interview when she explained that she often plays divisive characters and that people misunderstand her public persona.

“I play a lot of very divisive characters, and I think that a lot of people think they know me, but they don’t," she explained.

"So when people think, ‘Ah, she’s a sex symbol,’ or ‘She’s leaning into that,’ I’m like, ‘No, I just feel good and I’m doing it for myself and I feel strong.’”
