Influencer Alix Earle has come under fire after posting a TikTok video showing herself helping her 12-year-old sister, Izabel, get dressed for a concert - with many viewers criticizing the outfit choices as too mature for a child.

In the now-viral “Get Ready With Me” clip, the 24-year-old social media star, who boasts more than 7.5 million followers, documented herself styling Izabel ahead of The Weeknd’s show.

Earle explained she was going to help her little sister pick out a look for the night, and began pulling out a series of fashion-forward, adult-leaning pieces.

Among the options: a tiny red latex crop top, a grey mini tank, a strapless maroon corset (which Izabel quickly dismissed as “ugly”), and a sheer leopard-print singlet. At one point, Earle even took scissors to a black skirt, chopping it shorter to give it a more revealing edge.

The video ends before viewers see the final outfit, but Earle later shared in the comments that Izabel ultimately chose her own look. When asked what her sister wore to the show, Earle declined to reveal the full fit, writing she didn’t want to give the “haters” more to criticize.

That didn’t stop a flood of concerned commenters from weighing in.

“She’s 12, she needs to stay a kid,” one viewer wrote underneath the video. Another added: “Alix, I love you, but we gotta protect our little siblings and let them be kids. C’mon girlfriend.”

Others felt the options Earle presented were far too mature. “All those outfits a 25-year-old could wear,” one person pointed out. “None of these are good for a 12-year-old,” said another. One commenter even called the video a “hard watch,” especially the moment Earle shortened the skirt on camera.

“My daughter just turned 11. I couldn’t imagine. They are kids, let them be kids,” one parent wrote.

Still, some viewers came to Earle’s defense. “When I was her age, literally all I wanted was this stuff,” one person said. “She’s probably having so much fun, as she should.”

Others chimed in with similar takes: “Y’all didn’t have an older sister when you were 12 and it shows,” one wrote. “Also, Alix is her cool older sister, not her mum,” another added.

Earle, who is slated to appear on the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars, has recently shared more family moments with her audience.

During Miami Swim Week in June 2024, she walked the runway with three of her sisters, Ashtin, 22, and younger half-sisters Izabel and Penelope, 8. While Earle and Ashtin donned matching black-and-white bikinis, the younger girls wore coordinated pink-and-white one-pieces.

As the conversation around the video continues, so does the seemingly ongoing debate about what it means to be a role model, especially when millions of young fans are watching.
