Trinity Rodman has gone viral following her appearance at the US Open, where she was supporting her tennis player boyfriend.
The soccer star plays as a striker for the USWNT and the Washington Spirit, having won a Gold Medal at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.
But away from the pitch, the 24-year-old has dated basketball player Chris Kuzemka and NFL wide receiver Trinity Benson in the past, and she is now with tennis prodigy Ben Shelton.
The supportive girlfriend was even spotted in the crowd at the US Open, wearing a shirt that read 'I (heart) my boyfriend', cheering Shelton on this Wednesday (September 2).
Shelton, ranked world No. 5 in singles by the ATP, emerged victorious over Hubert Hurkacz in the second round with Rodman watching on.
A video of the soccer player went viral, as she was seen dancing in the crowd in between sets.
Many US Open viewers wondered who the athlete was at first, with many outside the US unaware of her status in sports despite millions seeing the video of her dancing at the Grand Slam tournament.
One detail that many were taken aback by is the fact that she is the second child of ex-NBA star Dennis Rodman and his third wife, Michelle Moyer.
Dennis is best known for his stints with the Detroit Pistons and then the Chicago Bulls in the NBA, across which he won five championships, having won three in a row with the latter alongside Michael Jordan.
Taking to X, one user admitted: "If I met her Dennis Rodman is the last man on earth I would guess is her father."
Another added: "Was she adopted wtf," as a third said: "Ain’t no way that’s the daughter of a man called Worm," in reference to Dennis' nickname in the NBA.
Since retiring from playing in the early 2000s, Dennis has been no stranger to controversy, openly admitting that he made 'a friend for life' in Kim Jong-Un during multiple visits to North Korea over the years.
He has also endorsed Donald Trump and Kanye West in past US Presidential elections.
Due to his complicated personal life and poor relationship with Trinity, fans of the soccer star came to her defence after X accounts described her as 'Dennis Rodman’s daughter'.
"NO. OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST, USWNT & WASHINGTON SPIRIT PLAYER (& BEN’S GIRLFRIEND) TRINITY RODMAN. STFU ABOUT HIM," one particularly angry user wrote.
Another said: "Trinity Rodman is successful and well-known in her own right. There is no need to use her father as a precursor to her introduction… especially considering their (publicly) strained and distant relationship."
Back in 2024, Trinity appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast and spoke about the strained relationship she had with her father.
She explained: "He's not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else."
Trinity claimed that he was a controlling parent and that she gave up on living with him due to his party lifestyle, adding that she 'lost hope in ever getting him back' after he went to one of her Washington Spirit matches in 2021 without telling her, and then did not speak to her until 2023.
When Dennis was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012, he stated: "I have one regret: I wish I was a better father."
Following Trinity's comments 12 years later, he took to Instagram, posting snaps of the two over the years and wrote a long caption.
“Sorry I wasn’t the Dad you wanted me to be,” it began, as he said he 'never will stop' trying, adding: “I’m always here and tell you all the time rather it’s your voice or voicemail how proud I am. I always had one wish and it was I wish my kids would call me and come see me.”
