Will Smith has posted on his Instagram account for the first time since Jada Pinkett Smith's bombshell revelation that they've been separated for the last seven years.
The world of entertainment was stirred recently with candid revelations from Jada about her marriage with Will.
Last week, in an NBC News special interview with Hoda Kotb, Jada bared her soul, sharing that she and Will have been living separately for the last seven years.
Explaining the reasons behind their relationship's challenges, she remarked, “I think by the time we got to 2016 we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”
Taking to Instagram over the weekend, the Focus star, 55, appeared to jokingly respond to the increased media attention he has received since Jada's enlightening interview.
Check out Will Smith's first social media post since the recent bombshell revelation:The post in question was a video featuring the actor lying down on a boat while several phone notifications ping in the background.
The video's voiceover states: "Fun fact about me: I can take a nap almost anywhere."
Will captioned the clip: "Notifications off :)".
In a recent communication with the New York Times, the King Richard star has given his perspective on the revelations from his wife's upcoming memoir titled, Worthy.
Will, reflecting on the decades-long relationship, told the New York Times, "When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in.”
He delved deeper, stating, “And you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties." It seems the memoir's revelations were an eye-opener for Will, admitting that they "kind of woke [him] up."
He went on to praise the Girls Trip actress, recognizing her as being more “resilient, clever, and compassionate” than he had previously thought.
Despite these hardships, the actress remains committed to her marriage, asserting, “I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever.”
She elaborated on the couple's dedication to their union, “I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”
The reason behind the couple's decision to keep the state of their marriage under wraps until now? During the same NBC special, Jada shared, “[We were] still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in partnership, right, and in regards to how do we present that to people, you know? And we hadn’t figured that out.”
The actress also confided in People about the couple's current journey, saying, “We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other, and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.”
Will and Jada, who got married in 1997, have two children together - Jaden, 25, and Willow, 22. Will also has a son, Trey, 30, from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino.
