Chris Evans and Alba Baptista had strict rules for all guests who attended their wedding over the weekend and for good reason too.
The pair were first linked back in 2021 but all was confirmed after they were snapped spending some quality time together in public the following year before tying the knot earlier this month.
Fans initially noticed that the iconic Marvel actor, who is best known for portraying the superhero Captain America, and the Portuguese actress who appeared on Netflix's Warrior Nun before it got canceled, started following each other on Instagram before Baptista started following Evans' other family members.
From then, things started getting serious pretty quickly with the pair spending lots of time together in private despite their busy schedules.
Then in November 2022, Evans and Baptista were seen strolling around Central Park with a source later telling PEOPLE that the pair had been dating seriously for over a year.
"They are in love and Chris has never been happier. His family and friends all adore her," the source said at the time.
Then in the same month, after the 42-year-old actor was awarded PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive accolade, he started talking about how he wanted to settle down and make a long-term commitment... coincidence? I think not.
Speaking to the outlet, he said: "That’s absolutely something I want - wife, kids, building a family. When you read about most of the best artists, whether it’s actors, painters, writers, most of them [admit] it wasn’t the work they made [that they are most proud of], it was about the relationships, the families they created, the love they found, the love they shared."
He continued: "So it’s also something through my long 41 years that also rings true. Those things are the most important. I love the idea of tradition and ceremony, I had a lot of that in my life so the idea of creating that, I can’t think of anything better."
And just a few months later, he's done just that!
As reported by both PEOPLE and Page Six, the beloved stars exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony over the weekend at a private estate in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, with their closest loved ones.
Their ceremony was described as "beautiful," as per a source who spoke to Page Six.
But being so private means that Evans and his new wife had to flesh out some specific rules for those who attended the event which included signing non-disclosure agreements before arriving at the party and giving up their phones at the door.
In this day and age, you gotta do what you gotta do to protect something you love and Evans and Baptista did just that.
Congratulations to the happy couple! We wish them all the best in their future together.
