A man has been on the receiving end of backlash after he decided to buy his girlfriend a "dissolving bikini."

Taking to TikTok, Jimbo Hall - best known for creating content with his girlfriend Eloise Fouldaga on the platform - decided to "prank" her by getting her a bikini that dissolves when it's in water while they were on vacation.

The video, which has now amassed a whopping 2 million views, shows Eloise sat on a sun lounger while tapping away on her phone.

Jimbo decides it's time to put his plan into action and asks her if she wants to go for a little swim in the pool, which is a public one, may I add.

Of course, once the unsuspecting girlfriend gets into the water, she quickly realizes that her bikini is withering away, leaving her completely in the nude out in public.

She attempts to hide herself under the waterfall area of the pool in the hopes that no one will see her.

After a few minutes, her man then hands her a towel so she could cover herself up as she angrily storms away from him.

In the text overlay, the TikToker also stated that everyone at the pool was watching her and then joked that he was now "single" after the joke.

In the caption, he also added: "I felt kinda bad after" alongside the laughing emoji.

While the prank may have seemed innocent to some, a handful of social media users were not happy at Jimbo's attempt to humiliate his girlfriend, especially out in public and then on the internet.

"She deserves better," commented one user while another agreed writing: "Red flag. She deserves better."

"Where's the girl who makes a list of reasons to stay single[?]," a third wondered.

Others even branded the act as "harassment" with this user declaring: "This is harassment."

Some people also pointed out: "What kind of person would even invent/create dissolving bikini?!" which is so true because what's the point?

Carly Dober, a psychologist, said that the success of the video proves that the humiliation of women is still seen as "funny."

"My thoughts about this or that there might still be some elements of humiliation which make this joke funny," she said of the matter.

The psychologist also pointed out though that less people might be laughing if this wasn’t an act done by a man.

"For some a woman needs to be rendered naked in public only while she has her partner around, because if he wasn’t around and she was with girlfriends, how would people be reacting to that? Would it be treated the same by some?" she added.
