Drew Barrymore couldn't hold back her emotions after being reunited with her ex-boyfriend Justin Long on her TV show.

In the season three premiere of The Drew Barrymore Show on September 12, the 47-year-old Charlie's Angel actress had a moving exchange with the 44-year-old Alvin and the Chipmunk actor who she dated from 2007 to 2010.

The former couple - who also starred in a number of films together - began reflecting on the years they spent together, seemingly forgetting about their audience as they absorbed in their passionate conversation.

"We laughed so much, that was so much a part of our connection," Barrymore said, as Long agreed and added: "I love that we’ve maintained our love because I don’t think it’ll ever – from my end, it’ll never go anywhere, I’ll love you always."

Watch the moment below:

The talk show host immediately broke down in tears saying to her Going the Distance costar: "I will always love you so much. You were so important to me. I really am, I'm really grateful."

"I feel like we've been through so much together too. When we used to talk and FaceTime I was always like, 'You know, I've really grown up Justin,' I always wanted to prove to you what a different person I was then when we dated," she added.

Nodding his head vigorously, Long replied: "You were the best," with Barrymore continuing: "But we had so much fun but we were more hedonistic, more immature. We would get together, we would break up, it was chaos, but it was hella fun."

"Fun chaos, most hedonism is fun!" the Jeepers Creepers actor said before adding, "We had a blast. I cherish that time. I really do".

The duo also reminisced on the early days of their relationship - which included game nights with Quentin Tarantino - and the E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial actress said that her former lover was a "bachelor" when they had met.

To conclude, both actors agreed on how meaningful it is to "champion your ex" as a way of "respecting what once was," with Barrymore saying: "All I want in life is your success and your happiness."
