Dwayne Johnson's fitness coach has revealed exactly how the actor is "scene ready at any moment".

The Rock has been a well-known Hollywood star for years on end, and it's no secret that his impressive physique stems from a former career on the football field and in the ring.

With his vigorous workout schedule and strict diet being something he does not take lightly, his coach has finally explained what makes the former WWE sensation one of a kind.

Strength and conditioning coach Dave Rienzi says The Rock's diet and fitness regime is purposely planned.

Rienzi, a former bodybuilder champ, told Muscle & Fitness that it's "extremely important" for the 48-year-old actor to stay fit all year round.

He said: "We hold his conditioning in a very tight window to allow him to be 'scene ready' at any moment."

While some of that mean muscle comes naturally, Rienzi revealed that bulks of it are a result of impressive dedication and hard work in the gym.

He added: "Keeping him at striking distance ensures that we never need to take drastic measures to obtain a certain look or over-stress his body.

"The bottom line is that he always needs to be able to perform at his best on-screen. The execution of his diet and training needs to be as nuanced and complementary as possible to allow him to do that consistently."

Responding to Rienzi's interview, Rock took to Instagram to write to his 230 million followers: "Every phase and stage of my body’s physical, health & wellness performance over the last 10yrs has been designed by Dave and executed by me on a daily basis.

"We are constantly inspired to improve and evolve in body and mind - BUT what separates Dave from everyone else is his ability to assess and understand my unbelievable schedule.

"Very few people truly understand the rigors of my schedule and all that’s required of me to balance it all.

"As crazy as it may sound - that balance requires real nuance. And that’s Dave’s mastery and success - nuance."

When it comes to diet, Johnson sticks to five meals a day (seven if he is training for a movie), manofmany.com reports.

Typically, his first meal in the morning includes a steak, eggs, oatmeal, and watermelon juice, with his second meal of the day including chicken, vegetables, and a protein shake.

He later eats fish, eggs, vegetables and rice, with his fourth meal of the day being another steak, potatoes, and more vegetables.

His final meal of the day is typically mostly protein, consisting of fish, a 10-egg omelet, vegetables, and protein powder.

That, paired with his hectic workout schedule, results in a chiseled physique day or night.

Johnson is currently out in Atlanta filming the DC Extended Universe movie Black Adam.
