Elon Musk reportedly had an affair with Google co-founder's wife leading to their divorce

Elon Musk allegedly had brief affair with the wife of his longtime friend Sergey Brin.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the 51-year-old Tesla CEO allegedly engaged in the affair after he broke up with his girlfriend Grimes.

The outlet said the affair prompted the 48-year-old Google co-founder to file for divorce from entrepreneur Nicole Shanahan earlier this year and ended the tech billionaires' long friendship.

However, Musk has now denied the reports that he had a brief affair with Shanahan on social media, saying the rumors are "total bs" and that there was "nothing romantic" between them.

Check out his tweet below:

The outlet reported that the couple separated on 15 December 2021 and cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their divorce in a January filing in the Superior Court of California in Santa Clara County.

The paper wrote that despite the former couple having a prenuptial agreement, both Brin and Shanahan are currently negotiating a divorce settlement, which could be as much as $1 billion.

The journal also stated that there has been "growing tension" between the Tesla chief and the Google co-founder and their teams. It also alleged that Brin instructed his financial advisers to sell his investments in Musk's various businesses.

The SpaceX founder responded to the reports again in a separate tweet and wrote: "WSJ [Wall Street Journal] has run so many bs hit pieces on me and Tesla I've lost count! It’s embarrassing for them, frankly."

The news of the affair comes after a tumultuous few months for the world's richest man in both his personal and professional life.

Earlier this month, Business Insider reported that last November, Musk "quietly" had twins with Shivon Zilis, the director of one of Musk's companies, Neuralink.

Another report stated that his father, 76-year-old Errol Musk, had a second child with his stepdaughter recently, and told UK tabloid, The Sun, that he wants to impregnate "high-class Colombian women".

Meanwhile, Musk is currently embroiled in a contentious legal battle with Twitter, after the multibillionaire pulled out of his $44 billion deal to purchase the social media platform.

The social media platform sued Musk after he announced he was walking away from his proposed acquisition of the network and is now set to face him in court in October.
