Emma Watson has stunned her fans with her latest fashion statement.

On Monday (19 June), the 33-year-old actress - best known for playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise - took to her Instagram to share a photograph of her and her brother Alex Watson.

The pair were promoting their gin brand, Renais, and coordinated with their matching powder blue outfits, but it was the Perks of Being a Wallflower star's look that caught everyone's attention.

Watson donned a dress from the Spanish luxury fashion house Loewe’s Spring Summer 2023 collection. The gown was structured with wiring to form a pointed 3D illusion on the bodice, with the rest of the fabric draped across the legs - giving the appearance of a magically levitating look.

The popular fashion label is known for pushing the boundaries of "proportion" - which is employing structural illusions to create striking silhouettes.

They celebrated some major fashion moments in pop culture this year, such as styling Rihanna's red look for the Super Bowl half-time show back in February, and being behind the custom diamante jumpsuit worn by Beyoncé during her ongoing Renaissance World Tour.

But while the brand may be high fashion, Watson's dress still caused some confusion among her supporters on the social media platform. Many began to question how the garment stayed in place and even asked if it was Harry Potter-style wizardry.

One user wrote: "This dress is defying physics," while another commented: "I’m so happy I’m not the only one who thought the dress is defying gravity."

A third person made an iconic reference to Watson’s famous line in the first wizarding film, penning: "What in the wingardium leviosa is that dress."

Meanwhile, a fourth user remarked: "After reading through comments I feel less bad about how long I had to stare at her dress to figure out what was happening."

The Beauty and the Beast star recently opened up about her time away from acting in an interview with The Financial Times, alongside her brother and father.

Watson shared with her family that she wasn't feeling happy with her acting career around the time her last film, 2019's Little Women, was released in theaters.

"I wasn't very happy if I'm being honest," Watson told the outlet. "I think I felt a bit caged. The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn't have very much control over."

"To stand in front of a film and have every journalist be able to say, 'How does this align with your viewpoint?' It was very difficult to have to be the face and the spokesperson for things where I didn't get to be involved in the process," she added.

The actress went stated that she felt as if she was "held accountable in a way that I began to find really frustrating because I didn't have a voice, I didn't have a say".

While Watson plans to return to movies next year, she also wants to study for a master's degree in creative writing at Oxford University in September.

"Yes, absolutely," she responded when asked if she will act again. "But I'm happy to sit and wait for the next right thing. I love what I do. It's finding a way to do it where I don't have to fracture myself into different faces and people."

"And I just don't want to switch into robot mode anymore," she added. "Does that make sense?"
