Adam Lambert has given fans a look into his future with his latest music video.

The 41-year-old American Idol star released a visual for his glam rock cover of Billie Eilish's song 'Getting Older' from her Happier Than Ever album.

The 'Runnin' singer underwent a shocking transformation that saw him use makeup, prosthetics, and a grey wig to reflect on the aging process.

The video - which was released on Thursday (February 23) - cuts back and forth between current Lambert and older Lambert, and also included intimate snippets of home videos throughout.

Watch Lambert's transformation below:

Even while altered into the elderly version of him, the video showed Lambert applying his trademark eyeliner, wearing a single earring, and donning a silk robe as he adjusts to his new appearance.

The 'If I Had You' musician spoke about the music video - which was directed by Heather Gildroy - to PEOPLE and said: "I've always wanted to do a complete transformation with makeup. Although it took nearly four hours, the end result was so lifelike, it was worth it!"

Lambert also revealed that he chose to include the song because of "how universal the lyric is," because: "No matter how old you are, we all feel the things that the lyrics describe. [Singing it] felt very confessional."

Discussing the lyric "things I once enjoyed / just keep me employed now," the vocalist said that line is "definitely" something he has felt and experienced before.

"I think it's an interesting idea because it reminds you that you have to continue to search for the joy in what you do," he said. "Don't lose sight of that spark, or else you're on the wrong track, I think."

Upon seeing his shocking older transformation, many users took to the comment section to applaud the great deal of work that went into the look and praised him for the storytelling in the video.

One user wrote: "ABSOLUTELY BRILLILANT!!! Seeing your emotions throughout the song made the lyrics even stronger for me. (Haha - When I first saw the video snippet for this song, I guessed the older guy was your dad with further aging makeup. Wow, I am amazed that it is really you! Great work!)".

A third person remarked: "This is brilliant! This sense of humor is one thing I love very much about you, Adam! We all experience getting older but shouldn't take it too seriously. It's just like it is. Thanks for reminding us all. Lots of love!"

A fourth user shared: "Adam your creativity and artistry is brilliant. All the emotions came flooding in when watching this. I cried to see you getting older but yet still your fabulous older self is still you, your true self, (makeup, jewelry voice). Your acting skills are A+ by the way. Your gestures, facial expressions all just wonderful. This is amazing! Love it to pieces!"

The Eilish cover follows the music video for Lambert's cover of Bonnie Tyler's 'Holding Out for a Hero,' which came out last month.

The singer said that while he got a lot of "positive" comments when the video first dropped, he noted that there was also "a fair number of people" who commented on his weight gain.

"I thought to myself, 'I'm fully aware I'm not the same size I was five years ago. Thanks for reminding me,'" he said. "I mean, I'm 41. I'm not 20 anymore!

"Also, you never know what someone's life looks like behind closed doors or what factors have led to changes in people's bodies — so keep [the criticism] to yourself," he added.

Adam Lambert's newest album, titled High Drama, is out now.
