Hailey Bieber believes she had post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after experiencing a mini-stroke last year.
The model, 26, who is married to Justin Bieber, 28, opened up on the physical and mental aftermath of a small blood clot being discovered in her brain.
Hailey had been hospitalized last March after suffering the medical emergency while eating breakfast with Justin, when she found she was unable to speak and her face began drooping.
She revealed that she had felt a ‘really weird sensation’ which traveled from her shoulder, all the way down to her arm and into her fingertips.
Thankfully, she soon began to regain her functions as her body cleared the clot by itself, and it was diagnosed that she'd had a TIA (transient ischemic attack) - otherwise known as a mini-stroke - rather than a stroke itself.
After further tests, it was also discovered that Hailey had a hole in her heart, which had caused the clot which traveled to her brain, and she underwent further surgery to close it to prevent any further problems.
Hailey admitted that she was left worrying that she may experience another mini-stroke, explaining on the Run-Through with Vogue podcast: "I struggled with a lot of anxiety after.
"I struggled with a little bit of PTSD of just, like, the fear of maybe it was gonna happen again.
"It was just a feeling that I was, like, I never want to experience that ever again. It was so terrifying, so jarring, so discombobulating in every single way that you could imagine."
She added that it was "definitely the scariest thing I’ve ever gone through," and she still finds visiting Palm Springs - where she was when she was rushed to hospital - "very triggering".
"Even the first couple of times coming back here after was a little bit of a strange triggering kind of feeling for me because you just remember exactly how everything happened in that moment," she explained.
"But I think the bright side for me is that it led me to find out I had this hole in my heart."
While the health battle was difficult both mentally and physically, Hailey conceded: "I look back at it and it could’ve been so much worse. So many worse things could have happened in that moment."
A month after the medical emergency, Hailey had opened up about her health to her fans, telling them on YouTube that medics had gone in through a vein in her groin to close the hole in her heart.
She also reassured fans that she was feeling better after the ordeal and was taking blood thinners daily to prevent it from reoccurring.
