Fans have taken to social media to celebrate Courteney Cox's birthday as the star turns 59 today!

Taking to Twitter, thousands of fans left kind messages for the star after Twitter account Pop Crave posted a tribute in honor of the special day, urging fans to recall her best performance.

"The one that made me emotional," commented one user while attaching a clip from Scream VI, which came out earlier this year.

Another also agreed, writing "Gale Weathers," alongside snapshots of Cox throughout the Scream films.

A third threw in an iconic - and utterly hilarious - moment courtesy of Monica Geller, which is one of the actor's most notable roles writing: "Nothing tops this gem."

Others wished the star a happy birthday to mark the occasion.

Cox, best known for her portrayal of Monica Geller on the hit sitcom Friends, has had a career that has spanned over three decades.

Born in Alabama in 1964, Cox couldn't ever imagine she would lead a life in the spotlight, especially when people from her area either became "steelworkers or doctors."

She started off as a model before moving into the world of acting.

"I got a job right away and I thought, 'that was easy,'" she recalled to Variety during an interview.

"It was a makeover. They took the Alabama fresh face and made a little funky style and it was really fun. They changed everything about me — they said I was Kentucky-born and they changed my last name to Myles. I don’t know why! But I never thought that when I was 18 it would lead to a career that I love and have really learned so much.

"I just kept doing things that led me to something else and I just kept learning and learning and learning," she added.

After working on numerous projects that ranged from brief appearances on TV shows all the way down to major Hollywood blockbusters, the 59-year-old was recognized as being one of the best talents in the industry.

And to this day she remains an icon.

Earlier this year, Cox was rewarded for her hard work with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which was unveiled on February 27.

Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow, two of Cox's Friends co-stars and long-time friends, stood by her side as she was graced with one of the biggest honors of her life - and it was well-deserved might I add!

In her speech, Kudrow spoke highly of her friend saying: "Courteney, we just want to say that we are deeply, deeply proud to know you. You are the definition of a truly beautiful, talented, and, what’s most important, a truly good and decent human being... Thank you for enriching our lives personally."

Aniston, who was emotional at the ceremony, also added: "You’re one of the funniest human beings on the planet Earth. Nothing makes me happier than a Courteney joke and always making us smile. And thank you for enriching our lives with your work. We are so proud of you."

Speaking of the close-knit bonds she made during her time on Friends, she told Variety: "Friends taught me the importance of camaraderie and really sticking together. These friendships were at the most important time in my life, and we went through so many things together.

"...It just taught me about being there for each other — I know, that’s the song: 'I’ll be there for you.' But it’s true. It was so nice to work with people that could bounce ideas off each other. Everybody wanted the best for everybody. There was no jealousy, it was only, 'Let’s make the best show we can, and let’s support each other in this.'"

We can't help but adore this woman - happy birthday Courteney Cox!
