Today marks the 81st birthday of one of the most influential names in Hollywood!
On this special occasion, we are taking a moment to celebrate the legendary actor Harrison Ford and reflect on his long-standing career.
Born on July 13, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, the Hollywood star could have never imagined the career he’s had. After dropping out of Ripon College in Wisconsin, Ford signed a Hollywood contract with Columbia and later Universal, appearing in Ironside (1967) and The Virginian (1962).
However, he became discouraged by his lack of work so he turned to a career in professional carpentry. Four years later, he returned to the screens as Bob Falfa in American Graffiti (1973) and then hit immense popularity with the role of Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977).
The actor continued to garner major success after appearing in 1981's Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark, which soon became a five-act movie - with the latest one, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, being released last month.
Ford not only helped bring in more than $9.3 billion at the worldwide box office for his role as Jones, but he has been a part of two other major franchises such as Jack Ryan and Blade Runner.
In addition to this, he has also received an Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for his role as John Book in Witness (1985).
