Lizzie McGuire actress Hilary Duff has revealed that she’s currently suffering from a painful pregnancy condition.
According to People Magazine, Duff took to her Instagram stories on Wednesday, February 10, to give her fans an update on her struggle with pregnancy sciatica.
In an image shared with her 16.3 million followers on her Instagram stories, Duff can be seen lying down horizontally in bed.
The image was captioned: “When the pregnancy sciatica gets ya.”
According to the NHS’ official website, sciatica is a condition often suffered by women during pregnancy, in which the sciatic nerve, running from the lower back to the feet, is compressed, which then leads to low blood circulation.
Pressure on the sciatic nerve can cause irritation, inflammation and pain.
Symptoms of this condition include a numbness, or a tingling sensation very much like pins and needles, spreading along the back or your lower body.
Per the NHS, the effects of the condition can be alleviated by exercise, or through painkillers, and it usually wears off within four to six weeks.
The 33-year-old Disney Channel star is expected to give birth to her third child - and second baby to her partner singer-songwriter Matthew Koma - in the next few weeks.
Koma and Duff broke the news of her pregnancy in a post made on Instagram on Saturday, October 10, sharing a short video of her swollen belly which was captioned: ”We are growing!!! Mostly me. [sic]”
In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan UK, Duff opened up about her experience of motherhood, stating: “I felt like I was so ready to be a mom.
“Everyone was like: ‘Oh. My. God. You’re a baby having a baby.’
“But I felt like I had done so much and I was so ready for something more and something that was personally mine.
“But I will say that was one of the loneliest times in my life.”
Duff and Koma confirmed their relationship in January 2017 and were married almost three years later in December 2019.
The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Bank Violet Blair, in 2018.
Since confirming her pregnancy with their second child in December 2020, Duff is yet to reveal the sex and any clues as to when the due date could be.
