Steve-O has opened up about his past issues with drug abuse, including occasions when he sent other celebrities and people in the industry concerning messages.
The daredevil, who is best known for his adrenaline-pumping public stunts on the show Jackass, recently revealed he used to create and share "disturbing videos" privately with other celebrities.
Ironically, the reveal came on the same day the Jackass star had the police scrambling to London's Tower Bridge after he decided to take a dip for a daring stunt.
Steve-O, whose real name is Stephen Glover, opened up on his past during an in-depth interview for the Stephen Bartlett's Diary of a CEO podcast, touching upon childhood trauma, addiction struggles, and the contents of those videos and emails.
Steve-O discussed his past drug abuse and how it led to him sending a "barrage" of messages to hundreds of people as his mental health declined.
He explained: "I was inundating a list of roughly 200 people, many of them very influential people in the entertainment industry, celebrities and agents and just powerful people, media personalities. I was just inundating these 200 people with emails at all hours, round the clock, and effectively broadcasting my downward spiral in real-time."
The TV star revealed that the emails and videos he would send ranged fromĀ "really funny stuff" to the "deeply alarming".
"I knew how out of control I was but [I thought] I was rad. I was out of my mind. I was out of my mind and I was making that abundantly clear," he admitted.
His emails began around 2007, two years after the birth of the video-sharing platform YouTube, which he used to create "really disturbing videos", which he would subsequently share with everyone on his email list by sending them the link.
It was around this time that he was also renting four apartments in one building, transforming one into his personal skatepark, unbeknownst to the landlord, keeping two for staff, and living in the final one himself, where he says "all the crazy stuff happened".
Fast forward to the present, Steve-O, now 15 years sober, is gearing up for his live comedy shows in London, which will be filmed for all of his fans to enjoy.
This week saw Steve-O take on his latest high-profile stunt, where he leaped off London's iconic Tower Bridge with a Union Flag-patterned umbrella, channelling Mary Poppins. Although he found himself in a police car after the fact, the star was released soon after, praising the officers as "totally cool".
