Lindsay Lohan has given birth to her first child, and her former co-star Jamie Lee Curtis has celebrated becoming a "movie grandmother".

The news was confirmed by TMZ last night that 37-year-old Lohan and her 36-year-old husband Bader Shammas had welcomed a baby boy.

The couple has named their son Luai, an Arabic name that translates to "protector" after Lohan gave birth in Dubai where the family resides.

The representative for the new parents added: "The family is over the moon in love."

It seems like Lohan and Shammas aren't the only ones that are over the moon about the new arrival, as Jamie Lee Curtis - a former co-star of the new mother - has shared her delight.

The pair starred as a mother-and-daughter duo in Freaky Friday, so Curtis is well aware that she is now Luai's unofficial grandmother.

Taking to Instagram, the Halloween actress wrote: "MAGIC MONDAY! My movie daughter just made me a movie grandmother. Blessings to Lindsay and Bader for the birth of Luai!"

Curtis also shared her excitement during the pregnancy as she shared a series of snaps from the baby shower.

Captioning the heartfelt images, Curtis wrote: "My friend and film daughter @lindsaylohan is growing up! So thrilled for her. What a mama she will be."

Lohan has kept fans updated throughout the pregnancy, and it was evident to all how much she was looking forward to becoming a new mother.

Back in March Lohan told TMZ that she and her husband were "excited" about becoming parents.

"We are very excited for our new family member to arrive and we are looking forward to this next chapter of our lives," she said on behalf of the couple.

On April 27, a month after her initial announcement, the new mom shared a carousel of intimate pictures which included several pictures from her baby shower.

One of the images showed a heavily pregnant Lohan, smiling at the camera as she cradled her bump wearing a beautiful, white split-leg dress.

She captioned the post: "Good times. So grateful for all of the wonderful people in my life!"

Lohan and Shammas have kept their relationship relatively private, and in November 2021, they announced their engagement to the world.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Lohan's mother Dina said: "Lindsay is dating a wonderful guy right now. But that's neither here nor there. When she's ready to talk about her personal life, (she will)."

In another interview with Cosmopolitan last year, Lohan described Shammas, who is assistant vice president at Credit Suisse, as an "amazing husband."

When asked about her support system, she said: "I have an amazing husband, who’s a very calm person. Just the best. And my family. And I feel like I have a small group of good friends who are just really good people. That’s the only support that I really need: friends, family, and loved ones."

We wish Lohan and Shammas all the best in this exciting new chapter of their lives!
