Jane Fonda has left fans divided after she made a joke that she'd only take a lover who was 20 years old, despite her being 85.
The actor, 85, has starred in many much-loved movies, including Cat Ballou, Barbarella, and Monster In Law, as well as her many workout videos.
She is also well known for her activism, having been vocal about issues such as the Vietnam War in the 1960s and 70s, to her support for LGBTQ+ rights.
However, Fonda's recent comments have caused a stir online, after she opened up on her requirements if she were to take a lover.
Fonda appeared on comedian Heather McMahan's podcast Absolutely Not, where the topic turned to dating, and the actor admitted: "I'm ashamed to say this, but if I were to take a lover, he'd have to be 20."
McMahan then questioned: "Really? Now, why specifically 20?", to which Fonda replied: "Because I don't like old skin."
Her reply left the host and production team in fits of laughter, to which she doubled down to say: "I don't!"
While her comments were probably meant as a joke, viewers quickly flooded the post with their thoughts on what she'd said.
One asked: "what about if the 20 year old doesn't like old skin", while another added: "I get the old skin part, but we can go higher than 20 to still accomplish that."

Another viewer wrote: "20? I’m not even half her age and I think 20 is too young for my age", someone else commented: "Jane noooooooo. Like reallll but noooooo", and one added: "Hmmmm that’s just wrong."
Others defended the actress, writing: "Y’all don’t know Jane Fonda jokes around ? tough in these comments," and another wrote: "y’all are not about to try and cancel Jane plz, she’s being funny."
Fans added: "Y’all really can’t take a joke in these comments," "People really don’t understand what a joke is! She’s funny," and: "I really think this is just her sense of humor yall. Ain’t that serious lol."
Some pointed out that it wouldn't be seen as a funny joke if an 85-year-old man said the same about a woman.
As well as giving up men her own age or slightly younger, Fonda also revealed earlier in the year that she was giving up drinking, too.

She explained at the time: "It’s because even with one drink, like, if I had a Martini tonight, I would be at half-mast tomorrow.
"Now, that wasn’t true when I was younger. But as you get older, I think alcohol affects you differently. And I only have so many tomorrows left. I don’t want to be at half-mast for any of them!"
