Jennifer Garner made a rare public appearance with her eldest daughter Violet Affleck at the White House.

On Thursday (December 1), the 50-year-old Elektra actress and her 17-year-old daughter attended the State dinner, hosted by President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden.

The event, which was held in honor of French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, marked Violet's first state dinner event and served as her birthday celebration as well.

The 13 Going on 30 actress and her daughter - whom she shares with ex-husband Ben Affleck - were two of 400 VIPs who attended the event.

The teenager donned a sparkling black gown covered in a pattern of shining black hearts, while Garner rocked an elegant black Ralph Lauren frock to match her daughter's look.

The fashionable mother-and-daughter duo walked into the event smiling and holding hands when photographed during their public outing.

Garner wasn't the only celebrity who brought her family. The speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi also brought her daughter Alexandra Pelosi out for the night.

Seinfeld star Julia Louis-Dreyfus brought her son, 25-year-old Charlie Hall, whom she shares with her husband Brad Hall, and, TV host Stephen Colbert attended the event with his wife, Evelyn McGee-Colbert.

The last time the Yes Day actress made a public appearance with Violet was at the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2018, when she was also joined by her family.

The actress - who also shares daughter Seraphina, 13, and son Samuel, 10, with Ben - opened up about the special rituals she and her family treasure the most.

"There are lots of little traditions the kids and I have together," she told Well and Good in 2018. "Right now, our blueberry bushes are going nuts, so we sneak down and pick blueberries together on the weekends."

"But my most valuable time with the kids is bedtime - I have different books going with each of my kids and they each get their own time [with me], even if it has to be condensed!" she added.

The Dare Devil star has always been candid about her close relationship with her children. In 2018, she shared that her motherly instincts kicked in as she knew she was pregnant with Violet, despite her doctor telling her otherwise.

Garner said while co-hosting The Ellen DeGeneres Show's annual Mother's Day episode that her at-home-pregnancy test was "so faint" that she couldn't quite tell.

Although a doctor told her "you're not pregnant" after giving her a "proper test" later that day, the mom-of-three said that she woke up that morning and "just knew."

"I was like, 'Yeah, I am. I'm telling you I am,'" she recalled telling her doctor, explaining that she changed physicians soon after. "So Violet's 12, and I don't use that doctor anymore, but I have her so I won!"
