Kaley Cuoco has issued an urgent warning to fellow dog owners after her pet became incredibly ill from ingesting a common plant.

The 37-year-old Big Bang Theory alum took to her Instagram to share that it took specialists two months to figure out what was wrong with her pup, King, who ended up requiring surgery to save his life.

The actress - who welcomed her first child with Tom Pelphrey in March - explained that an "extremely dangerous" weed was to blame for her dog's health scare.

The weed in question was a Foxtail plant, which is a weed-type grass that can cause serious problems for dogs if inhaled, lodged in the ears, swallowed, and embedded in the paws, according to Pet MD.

The Flight Attendant star showed an image of a wispy foxtail plant on her leg, and wrote: "They are extremely dangerous to animals esp dogs .. we spent the last 2 months trying to figure out what was wrong [with] our King."

Cuoco then revealed that King was "violently ill and nothing was working," explaining: "Many vet appts, surgery and endless meds. Finally found a specialist who found 2 of these in his body days away from piercing his heart !!"

In another story, she shared a picture of her beloved pet having been extensively shaved for his operation and penned that while he is doing "soooo much better," he has "tons of stitches from a super intense surgery".

However, despite King's brave recovery, she urged her followers to "be careful," and added: "Also please note these must be surgically removed. They do not heal on their own!"

Cuoco concluded her warning post by revealing a picture of King appearing in good health, with his big brown eyes shining as he looked off-camera. "We are so grateful he is ok and will live a long happy life!" she added.

The animal lover is known for rescuing several pooches and is a dog mom to Zeus, Ruby, Shirley, and Miss Opal, as well as horses and farm animals.

Her post about King's health comes after the death of her pet, Chihuahua Dump Truck - an elderly dog she rescued over the pandemic.

Cuoco shared a sweet Instagram gallery on May 30 in remembrance of Dump Truck, writing: "A dog is the only thing on earth, that loves you more than he loves himself' My sweetest Dump Truck, saying goodbye to you has deeply pierced my soul. You were with me during some of the hardest moments I’ve had in my life.

"You brought endless joy to everyone that met you, and kissed my nose when I needed it most," she continued. "You were as special as it gets and I’m so grateful we found each other. Please tell Norman I miss him every day and will cherish you both forever."

The Meet Cute actress's partner also posted a similar tribute to Dump Truck, stating alongside snaps of himself with the chihuahua that he had a "heavy heart today".

"He really was a special dog," the 40-year-old said. "What he lacked in size he more than made up for in personality. And in a house FULL of personality — Dumpy was [king]."
