Kathy Griffin has voiced her support for "friend" Amber Heard, as well as branding Johnny Depp a "fat bloated boozebag".
The 61-year-old comedian's comments come after a Fairfax, Virginia, jury ruled unanimously in favor of the Pirates of the Caribbean star in his $50 million defamation case against ex-wife Heard.
The court awarded 58-year-old Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and punitive damages of $350,000 (reduced from $5 million). Heard, 36, was awarded $2 million in damages based on her countersuit. Both parties accused the other of abuse, with all alegations being denied.
Now, during a call with CNN political analyst Brian Karem on the Just Ask the Question podcast, Griffin has become the latest celebrity to speak out in favor of Heard.
Per Newsweek, Griffin started by saying that she is "friends with Amber Heard," before adding, "I completely believe her."
Then, speaking as a woman and a feminist, she stated that the verdict in favor of Depp was "really disturbing".
Griffin then called the online conversation surrounding the high-profile case a "social media bloodbath", before announcing that the #MeToo movement is not dead yet.
Then, the comedian went on the personal attack of Depp, branding him "gross".
She added: "These Johnny Depp stans that are talking about this trial and yet they refuse to show pictures of what he looks like now, which is a big orange fat bloated boozebag. He looks like Donald Trump with a ponytail.
"And so they keep sticking up for him and being like, 'Amber is taking down Johnny! He's so gorgeous and dreamy!' I'm like, okay, he talks like Kanye when Kanye had his jaw wired. He has a fake accent like when Madonna turned British. So, you know, who are we kidding here?"
Later on, Griffin would bash Depp's fans for waiting outside of the courthouse in order to show their respect to the actor.
"And just the whole thing of how he had, like, his digital warriors outside," she said. "It's... this is a middle-aged man. This is pathetic. So, anyway, I don't... I don't get it."
Host Karem did agree with Griffin that Depp's accent is perculiar, considering the fact the actor was born in Kentucky.
"He's a Kentucky boy," Karem said. "So every time I hear that from him I go, 'He didn't learn to speak like that in Kentucky.'"
Griffi then joked: "He learned it from his idol Keith Richards."
Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer has previously stated that Depp based the character of Captain Jack Sparrow off a combination of rocker Keith Richards and flirty skunk Pepé Le Pew.
