On Tuesday, December 20, the 66-year-old actress - who starred as Samantha Jones in the beloved series - announced the death of her 93-year-old mother, Gladys Shane Baugh, on her social media page.

Cattrall took to her Instagram to share a loving tribute filled with several photos of the duo together over the years - including a heartwarming one of her as a child with her mother.

"Shane Cattrall 1929 - 2022," the Mannequin star captioned the post, shared with her 1.1 million followers. "Rest in peace Mum."

The Police Academy star's mother - who she had with her partner Dennis Cattrall - worked as a secretary. When Cattrall was three months old, her family immigrated to Canada from Liverpool.

They lived in Courtenay, British Columbia, until the actress was 11 years old and returned to Liverpool when her grandmother became sick.

Upon seeing her heartbreaking post, many fans and famous faces flooded Cattrall's post with their condolences, with one user writing: "I am so sorry for your loss. I loved your mum and her sisters in Who Do You Think You Are. I hope her passing was peaceful. My thoughts are with you all."

The Ghost Writer star's tragic loss comes almost five years after the death of her younger brother, Christopher. He was found dead by police after Cattrall took to Instagram to ask for help in finding him.

It took less than a day for police to find Chris in Blackfalds, Alberta. His cause of death was suicide. The actress shared the upsetting news with her followers on social media.

"It is with great sadness that myself and my family announce the unexpected passing of our son and brother, Chris Cattrall," she tweeted. "At this time we ask for privacy. We want to thank you all on social media for your outpouring of love and support in this trying time."

In January this year, Cattrall posted a tribute to her late brother on what would have been his 59th birthday and raised awareness of suicide prevention.

Alongside an old photograph of the pair, she wrote: "Today would have been my baby brother Chris’s 59th b'day. Happy Birthday, sweet 'Topher'. We miss you today and everyday. RIPx #SuicidePrevention. (sic)"

Our thoughts go out to Cattrall's family and friends at this time.
