After a wild night at yesterday's Met Gala event, which took place at the iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the fallout from the event has now spilled onto social media.

Lil Nas X, one of the many stand-out celebrities that attended the glitzy event, showed us how to steal the spotlight after he stepped on the beige carpet wearing an extremely daring metallic ensemble.

The Grammy winning-musician sported nothing but a thong and silver body paint which had thousands of Swarovski crystals and pearls that covered his entire body including his face. The look was coupled with a bejeweled mask.

The risqué fit prompted a mixed reaction from people online, which has now caused the 'Old Town Road' rapper's fans to jump to his defense.

While you would think Nas would be applauded for his daring exploration in homage to the late Karl Lagerfeld, instead some people took to social media to criticize him.

"Lil NAS x has arrived at the #MetGala," wrote one person attaching a picture of a glittery troll alongside the tweet.

Another added: "The Met Gala is supposed to be a classy event... and here come Lil Nas X."

A third was also left less than impressed comparing Nas to "scabies."

However, the haters were quickly overridden by the 24-year-old's fans, who tweeted their support for their idol.

"Can always trust lil nas x #MetGala," wrote one user while another added: "Lil nas x ate idc what y’all say."

And during a repost of the look by Pop Base, one Twitter user branded the look "disgusting," to which a fan hit back with: "I know! It's so disgusting how @LilNasX always looks so amazing #MontGala."

Well, if you're going to talk s*** on the internet, this is what happens.

Nas was one of the many celebrities who went out of their way to adhere to this year's theme which was inspired by Lagerfeld who unfortunately passed away in 2019.

As per The Costume Institute's official description of the glamorous event, the spring 2023 exhibition was set to be an exploration of "the work of Karl Lagerfeld. Focusing on the designer’s stylistic vocabulary as expressed in aesthetic themes that appear time and again in his fashions from the 1950s to his final collection in 2019, the show will spotlight the German-born designer’s unique working methodology."
