Lindsay Lohan is going viral on TikTok.

The Parent Trap actress was one of the biggest stars of the noughties, with leading roles in hit teen comedies like Freaky Friday and Mean Girls.

But according to Lohan's first TikTok, we've all been mispronouncing her name all along.

The 35-year-old joined the social media platform earlier this month and wasted no time setting the record straight in her first post.

In the video, Lohan is standing outside and smiling at the camera as she introduces herself. "Hey everyone, it's Lindsay Lohan, and guess what?" she says. "I'm on TikTok!"

Since being posted on February 7, the clip has already racked up over 2.3 million views and helped the star amass over 485,000 followers.

While many were excited to see Lohan on TikTok, others were more shocked by the way she pronounced her own name. In stark contrast to the way people have been saying 'Lohan' for years, Lohan herself stressed the "o" instead of the "a" - so the name sounded almost like "Lowen".

Thousands took to the comments section to express their shock over the new pronunciation. One user wrote "Lindsay... Lowen?" alongside a confused face emoji, while another commented: "Lindsey 'LOWEN'?!? I’VE BEEN SAYING IT WRONG MY WHOLE LIFE?"

One person apologized to the star, saying: "I'm sorry I've said your name wrong my entire life." And a fourth person asked her: "why didn’t you correct our mispronunciation of your last name for the last 20 years?"

But for some users, it was all too much, and they joked that it was Lohan - not everyone else - who was mispronouncing her own surname. "U pronounced ur name wrong," one joked, while another commented: "Lindsey Lowen?? You mean Lindsey LOW-HAN?"

Meanwhile, the clip is not the only one of Lohan's TikTok's to have made a splash. Since joining the platform she has also reposted her Planet Fitness ads - which aired during the SuperBowl - and recreated a scene from The Parent Trap which has been viewed over 13 million times.

She's also set to star in the upcoming Netflix rom-com, Falling for Christmas, alongside Chord Overstreet.
