Actor Jeremy Renner has been hospitalized after an accident while plowing snow and is in a "critical but stable" condition.
Renner is a two-time Oscar nominee, nominated for Best Actor for The Hurt Locker in 2010 and Best Supporting Actor in 2011 for The Town.
He is perhaps best known for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe where he plays Hawkeye (Clint Barton), featuring most recently in last year's Disney+ series named after his character.
As reported by the Reno-Gazette Journal, Renner has a home near Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe in Nevada. A further report by the outlet revealed that a winter storm hit the area on New Year's Eve leaving 35,000 people without power as the temperatures plummeted into the teens.
The 51-year-old actor is a lover of heavy machinery and has his own snow plows that he uses to clear the winter conditions around his secluded mountain home, per the Daily Mail.
On Sunday (January 1) Renner was involved in an accident that resulted in him getting airlifted to the hospital where he is currently being treated.
Speaking to Deadline, a spokesperson for Renner said: " [Jeremy is in a] critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while plowing snow earlier today."
The spokesperson stated that Renner's family is with him now and that he is receiving "excellent care" from the medical team around him.
As per the Daily Mail, officials have revealed that the actor was the only "involved party" in the incident and an investigation is currently underway as to how the accident happened.
Public information officer Kristin Vietti said: "Upon arrival, deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Jeremy Renner via care flight to a local area hospital."
Messages of support have been pouring in from celebrities and fans, all hoping for a speedy recovery for the 51-year-old. Actor Josh Gad said on Twitter: "My God. Praying for @JeremyRenner and his family."
Fellow Hawkeye star Hailee Steinfeld said: "I can’t sleep after hearing the news about Jeremy Renner. I’m legit sad & scared. To our partner in crime, our favorite Avenger. Prayers to you and your Family. Really praying for [a] speedy recovery… C’mon Hawkeye! We need you!"
