Athenna Crosby has spoken out about her final meeting with Matthew Perry just a day before his tragic death.
The 54-year-old Friends star passed away on Saturday (October 28) after authorities were called to his home in the Pacific Palisades area in Los Angeles following reports of a "water emergency."
In a statement about the initial call-out, the Los Angeles Fire Department also revealed some further details about the devastating incident, stating that emergency responders found Perry "unconscious in a stand-alone jacuzzi" when they were called to his home over the weekend.
A spokesperson for the department told the outlet that "a bystander had brought the man’s head above the water and gotten him to the edge, then firefighters removed him from the water upon their arrival.
"A rapid medical assessment, sadly, revealed the man was deceased prior to first responder arrival," they added.
In the wake of the tragedy, Perry's family released a statement saying that they were "heartbroken" over the news.
"We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother," the family said in a statement to PEOPLE. "Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend.
"You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love," they added.
And now, model Athenna Crosby has spoken out about her interaction with the star just a day before his death in the hopes that it would give fans some peace about his mind frame.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the former Miss California opened up about the pair and their close friendship.
"Matthew was in good spirits on our outing together and we are all still shocked by this tremendous loss," she told the outlet. "I hope this directs more people to his recent memoir and his advocacy work for addiction, and that by seeing his story, more people struggling can get the help they need."
TMZ reported that the pair were snapped out having dinner together for over an hour and a half before leaving the venue together.
After the news of her friend's death, Crosby took to Instagram to give further details: "Once again I never intended to say anything but since I have been identified, yes that is me with him this past Friday. I want to emphasize that Matthew was in extremely good spirits, and talked to me enthusiastically about the things that he had coming up in his life.
"He was so happy and vibrant," she continued before adding: "Please refrain from any speculation surrounding his death and know that the man was on a comeback and truly deserved more time on this earth. Our entertainment industry has truly lost a legend. RIP."
The model also shared a short video of her opening up a copy of his signed memoir which included a personal message that said: "Theens. A number one New York Times best seller for the number one girl."
In a follow-up tribute post, Crosby expressed her love for the actor writing: "I wasn't going to speak about this but what I will say is I had the honor of knowing Matthew personally.
"I am so devastated from his death but felt it was in poor taste to talk about it publicly as the attention should not be on me but rather on him and his legacy," she continued. "But indeed, we were friends and I was one of the last people to speak to him and see him before he passed."
