Olivia Wilde has found herself under the wrath of the Swifties after she recently made a controversial comment about Taylor Swift and her new love interest, Travis Kelce.

The actress took to her Instagram Stories, to repost a tweet that some fans have branded as "shade" towards the 'Love Story' singer and her (alleged) new man, Kansas City Chiefs' tight end, Travis Kelce.

It read: "I wish Taylor Swift was in love with a climate scientist."

Since it was rumored that Swift could be romantically linked with Kelce last month, he, as well as the NFL overall, have seen a spike in attention and profits thanks to the dedication of Swifties everywhere.

Not only did the athlete see a dramatic increase in merch sales, outside of his job, his social presence also skyrocketed with Kelce repeatedly becoming a trending topic across multiple social media platforms and gaining over 325,000 new followers on Instagram alone, according to a report by Axios released last month.

Just to give that statistic some perspective, that's more followers than he gained after winning the Super Bowl earlier this year.

However, despite how much Kelce might have appreciated the attention, it seems as though others wish that it was directed elsewhere.

Cue Olivia Wilde.

After she reposted the tweet to Instagram, Swifties took to Twitter, better known now as X, to slam the 39-year-old as a "hypocrite."

"Olivia Wilde posting this when she hasnt done a thing for climate change, is a performative activist..attaches her name to any big name celeb.. what a freaking fake af hypocrite.. keep Taylor swifts name out of your mouth," one user wrote.

"The stupidest thing @oliviawilde could do after breaking up with Harry Styles is daring to mention Taylor Swift," added another.

A third also stated: "Olivia Wilde is mad Taylor Swift isn't dating someone who could do more for climate change, when she herself has never dated anyone who has done anything for climate change."

However, some people actually defended the star, emphasizing that the repost has been misunderstood.

"Olivia Wilde only reposted it because Taylor Swift is so influential that if she dated a climate activist, she’d save the world by motivating y’all devoted fans and media to take interest in climate change," this user tweeted.

There's probably been a misunderstanding here folks, but one thing's for sure, the Taylor Swift effect is well and truly real.

Just ask Travis Kelce.
