It's fair to say that Hollywood really kicked 2019 off with a bang, thanks to the opulent Golden Globe awards.
Back in the day, movie stars would commonly look down on television actors, and thought that making an appearance on the small screen was slumming it.
But now that we're allegedly living in the golden age of TV drama, awards shows like the GGs have become more prestigious than ever, and are attended by all manner of über-celebs.
Predictably, this kind of attendance can lead to some pretty awkward moments, and this year's show certainly didn't disappoint in that department. If I'm being honest, the main reason I tune into awards shows like this is so I watch people making fools of themselves.
One of the most toe-curling moments of the whole show was Rami Malek's attempted-yet-failed hug, which was witnessed by millions of social media users around the world.
In case you've been living under a rock for the past week and missed the hilariously-awkward incident, what happened was this: the Freddy Mercury biopic movie Bohemian Rhapsody managed to win a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture in the drama category.
The cast, which including lead star Rami Malek, went up onstage to accept their award, which was being presented by Australian actress Nicole Kidman. Malek tried to greet Kidman; but at the crucial moment of hug-initiation, she turned away and ignored him.
However, fans have been pleased to find out that the two aren't enemies after an image emerged of them meeting and embracing one another while attending the Critics' Choice awards.

Awwww. Don't they look cute together?
Kidman recently told Entertainment Tonight she was "mortified" when she saw the clip, and added that her and Rami are "really good friends", saying: "I just did not feel his hand on my back! I was mortified. I love that man, he's so gentle and softly spoken. He's a darling."
Meanwhile, when Malek viewed the clip of his awkward hug on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he confirmed his friendship status with Kidman, stating: "I’ve known her for many years, despite what it may seem in that video, so I thought I could easily go up and say hi but in a moment like that… it was very awkward. I have a feeling this is probably haunting me on the internet now."
Too right Rami! However, it seems as though this whole fiasco was just a little misunderstanding, and that Rami and Nicole are actually bosom buddies. If nothing else, then Rami's shiny award for his incredible acting chops in Bohemian Rhapsody has probably managed to take some of the sting out of the faux pas, don't you think?
