A reality star has issued a statement on social media after wearing a hat that reads "Drunk Wives Matter".
Real Housewives of Orange County star Kelly Dodd wore the controversial hat at her recent bridal shower and has now taken to social media to apologize for it.
Dodd shared a now-deleted picture of herself to Instagram wearing the hat.
"Over the weekend at my bridal shower [sic] I got lots of gifts and briefly displayed them," Dodd's statement of apology began."One was a hat with a play on words since I'm about to be a wife, I'm on a Housewives TV show and might be drunk once in a while.
"It was not intended to offend or make any kind of statement," her statement continued. "Of course I support black lives and racial equality! Thank you all. Love, Kelly."

Per PEOPLE, Dodd initially responded to criticism of the hat by saying, "My girlfriend brought it for me as a gift. It's a play on words. Some people aren't that smart."
However, this is far from the first time that Dodd has hit the headlines for a controversial reason in 2020.
Earlier this year, she described the ongoing pandemic as "God's way of thinning the herd" before backtracking and comparing it to the flu. She then claimed that it was near enough gone in Orange County while enjoying a meal with her family, Page Six reports.
In June, the reality star also commented that she had "experienced racism" as a "woman of color,"seemingly in response to the controversy caused by recently resurfaced comments in which she told TMZ back in 2016: "I don't like black guys. I don’t even know any black guys."
Dodd's former co-star, Tamra Judge, said that she should be fired from Bravo for her comments about black men, saying: "That TMZ video is disgusting Bravo shouldn't just single certain people out like Stassi [Schroeder] & Kristen [Doute]. There should be zero tolerance at this point."
Dodd is set to marry Fox News reporter Rick Leventhal on Saturday, October 10.
