Rebel Wilson has recently defended herself following the backlash she received for going out partying just a week after her daughter was born.

During a recent episode of the Life Uncut podcast with Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne, the 42-year-old said that she had received criticism about her parenting skills only one week into her journey.

"It was only a week until I got mom-shamed," she told the hosts. "I was shocked at the criticism because Chris Hemsworth goes to the gym, and people aren't yelling, 'Where's your kids?" But why do they do it to every woman?'"

The How To Be Single star went on to say that she did debate the idea of going out after her daughter, Royce Lillian, was born back in November so her nanny encouraged her to go through with it.

"It's a little bit [of] work in a way. Like, I'm talking to directors or talking to other actors that might be useful to collaborate with... and then we were basically home by midnight," she said.

"Just because you become a mother, doesn’t mean that you lose your identity as a person. It doesn't mean you can't go out with friends or you can't go on a holiday. It doesn't mean you can’t have a career," the actress continued, before adding: "People will say I'm in a privileged position, which I am, but I think it's so outdated. Why is it women shaming other women? It always is."

Wilson seems to be referring to the backlash she received last year just after she had announced the arrival of little Royce Lillian via surrogate. The actress and her partner Ramona Agruma were slammed for attending parties hosted by Leonardo DiCaprio and Paris Hilton on the same night.

As per the Independent, the Bride Wars alum shared snapshots of the couple living it up on her Instagram Stories where she copped some heat from other moms who told her she'd left the house too soon after her daughter was born.

"I worked hard to get into a position where I had a really great household and stable life to bring up the baby, but we don't go out that much because we want to stay home and chill, and we're so exhausted," she added.

Elsewhere, the 42-year-old also discussed the struggles of maintaining a healthy work-life balance as well as a relationship.

When asked if she felt pressure to announce her current relationship, she told the hosts that she wanted to be able to do it "organically", emphasizing that she "wasn't hiding it" because Agruma was an "awesome chick."

However, she did add that she wanted to take control and tell people herself, rather than wait for the news to be broken in the tabloids.

So that's exactly what she did.

Taking to Instagram, the actress came out, revealing the identity of her girlfriend while doing so.

"I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince... but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess," she captioned a shot of her and Agruma smiling. She ended the post with a rainbow emoji, some hearts, and the hashtag #loveislove.

Speaking to PEOPLE, she revealed that the pair were set up by a friend.

"We spoke on the phone for weeks before meeting," Wilson said. "And that was a really good way to get to know each other. It was a bit old-school in that sense — very romantic."

She added: "I think going through the process of finding more self-worth, I think that what you want in a partner is elevated and so it's great to have someone who feels like an equal partner and be in a healthy relationship. There were times — I'm not saying with all my exes, they're great — but there were some times that I was probably putting up with that I shouldn't have. So it feels different to be in a really healthy relationship."

We love to hear it!
