Robert De Niro has opened up about becoming a father again later in life, and it seems like he's loving every moment of being a new father at 80.
The legendary actor welcomed his youngest child Gia, nine months, with his girlfriend Tiffany Chen last year, when he was 79 years old.
De Niro is a father of seven, with his oldest son Raphael, who is a former actor who now works in real estate, being almost five decades older than Gia, at 47 years old.
Despite having lots of practice as a dad, De Niro is still finding the wonder in all the little moments with his new bundle of joy, as he teared up while speaking about her.
He opened up about life with Gia, who was born in April 2023, telling AARP magazine: "I'm an 80-year-old dad and it's great.
"Everything that I’m consumed with or worried about, or this and that, just goes away when I look at her."
He fought back the tears as he added: "So, that in itself, is wondrous."
Explaining how magical it has been watching her grow so far, he added: "She has a very sweet way of looking at you and just taking you in. My other daughter Helen had that too, they just look at you and take it in.
"So I don't know where it's going to go with her later when she gets older, but she's thinking and observing everything and watching. It's really interesting."
He also touched on his advanced age, adding: "I want to be around for as long as I can, to enjoy it and enjoy her."
De Niro, who is the cover star of AARP magazine's February/March 2024 issue, had waited over a month after Gia's birth to reveal the happy news he'd become a father again.
When he was asked about his six children, the two-time Oscar winner told the interviewer: "Seven, actually. I just had a baby."
He didn't say any more about the baby at the time, but addressed the fact that fatherhood is just as tough no matter how old you are or how many times you do it during a red carpet interview with Extra for the New York premiere of About My Father.
He said at the time that it "never gets easier", but added: "I'm okay with it. I'm good with it."
De Niro was recently named as a nominee for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Martin Scorsese's Killers Of The Flower Moon for this year's Oscars, while Scorsese got his 10th nomination for Best Director.
And with a couple of Oscars on his shelf already, De Niro is not too worried about how things go down on the night, telling AARP magazine: "I’ve learned how not to worry or tax myself too much. I like to just let things happen."
