Francia Raísa - Selena Gomez's kidney donor - recently responded after the 'Bad Liar' singer said that Taylor Swift was her "only friend" in the industry.

During a new interview with Rolling Stone, 30-year-old Gomez discussed her battles with mental health as well as her new Apple TV+ documentary, My Mind and Me. During the interview, Gomez revealed that while she was struggling to deal with her mental health throughout her 20s, fellow musician Taylor Swift was there for her.

"I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities," the 'Lose You To Love Me' singer said. "My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong."

Immediately fans started speculating about her friendship with Raísa, who donated a kidney to Gomez back in 2017 as a result of the singer's battle with lupus.

Following the successful surgery, Gomez shared an appreciation post for Raísa on Instagram, writing: "There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis."

"What about Francia? I mean, she gave Selena a Kidney," wrote one user following Gomez's comments to Rolling Stone.

"Did Taylor give her a kidney? For her to be her best friend..." another added.

A third commented: "That means a lot but that’s seems kinda disrespectful to the woman who donated her kidney to her."

However, others quickly jumped to defend the star, emphasizing that Gomez clearly stated "in the industry" for a reason.

"She’s referring to the music industry which Francia isn’t a part of," said one user. "She refers to Francia as family. This woman constantly has to defend everything she does/says; it’s wild."

"She only talked about Taylor because she's the only one in the business !!!! Why are so many upset? Francia is not a superstar!!! she doesn't follow sel anymore, why? No attention in the documentary? It was about Selena's illness, feelings and fears, not about the donor of the kidney," another reiterated.

But regardless of fan reaction, perhaps the most interesting part of this story is that it seems Raísa also noticed the discussion going on online.

After the quote was reposted to Instagram by E! News, she took to the comment section in a now-deleted response writing the word "interesting".

The comment stayed online for a little while before it suddenly vanished. However, celebrity news account Pop Crave obtained and shared a screenshot which sent fans into another meltdown.

It was later alleged that Raísa also unfollowed Gomez on Instagram.

Yikes.

Francia Raísa and Selena Gomez met back in 2007 during a visit to a children’s hospital and quickly became friends. But their friendship reached a whole new level when Raísa very selflessly donated a kidney to the singer. Both women underwent a surgery and lengthy recovery process.

After all they've been through, let's hope this is all hearsay and they manage to work it out!
