Selling Sunset star Mary Fitzgerald has bravely opened up about her recent septic miscarriage as she shared her story with her followers.

Fitzgerald, 42, took to Instagram to share an emotional video on her journey to having another baby, revealing that she got pregnant while on her honeymoon in Bali with husband Romain Bonnet, 29.

The reality star, who also has a 26-year-old son named Austin, who she had when she was 16, broke down as she explained what had happened to her followers.

She wrote alongside it: "It’s not always sunshine and butterflies, and that is ok. I wanted to share this in the hopes of letting others know they are not alone. I promised I would be truthful and keep you guys updated."

She continued: "I have been asked some questions, and finally found it within me to address this. We won’t be giving up… and if this message speaks to you in any way or you are feeling down, helpless, alone… please know we are in this together. Hang in there…"

Fitzgerald said: "I promised everybody a while back, about a year ago, that I would take you along with my fertility journey and I know I've been very silent about it.

"I'm going to try and do this without crying. It's taken me a couple of weeks to be able to actually sat everything going on."

She explained: "We did get pregnant, we were in Bali and we did get pregnant but it didn't work out."

Fitzgerald revealed that she had had a septic miscarriage which meant she had to have surgery, but wanted to speak out after finding out how common it was.

Per the Mayo Clinic, septic miscarriage happens when a woman develops an infection in the uterus, and surgery is required to remove the cause.

"I guess the only reason why I’ve been silent for a long time — and the reason why I’m speaking out now — is because I do realize how common this is and how many people go through this," she added.

Fitzgerald confirmed that she and Bonnet are going to keep trying for a baby and promised to keep her followers updated on their journey to starting a family.

Bonnet commented on the post: "it’s just the beginning of our journey my princess and i promise I will always be here to support you in every step of the way."

Her Selling Sunset co-stars also shared messages of support, with Amanza Smith writing: "Most beautiful human inside and out. Love you both so much and will continue to hold you up through all your pain. Yes you will have good news very soon."

Brett Oppenheim added: "We will always be here to support you and Romain, through anything. Love you," while Maya Vander wrote: "Sending love!! sorry you had to experience it."

Fitzgerald and Bonnet married in a secret ceremony in March 2018 and filmed a larger wedding celebration for the Netflix show a year later.

The pair finally celebrated their honeymoon with a luxury trip to Bali in January after it was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
